Today in the morning at 7:45 am parents with their 2 months old infant visited my home with the history of regurgitation of feeds followed by cyanosis whole body and total unresponsiveness. I immediately examined the patient , he was in cardiopulmonary arrest and immediately resuscitated him in the form of mouth and mouth breathing along with chest compressions and i accompanied the patient to nearby PHC soibugh and mean time i continued with the CPR put him on oxygen therapy via nasal prongs. Patient got revived back but he was having gasping respiration. I immediately secured I.V line and gave two normal saline bolus and injected him thiamine. Patients needs intubation, so i asked doctor on duty please do give me laryngcospe and ETT tube and he replied back not available in this hospital. I asked for inj sodium bicarbonate and injection dopamine he replied with the same tone not available in this hospital. I got shocked as no emergency resuscitaive kit is available at our phc soibugh. I immediately referred that patient on 0xygen therapy and iv fluids to higher centre where he was placed on the ventilator. I request concerning authority BMO soibugh to make emergency resuscitave kit and emergency resuscitative drugs available there so that it couldn't happen with someones elses baby

How to understand whether a baby is full or hungry.
Starting eating/weaning after the age of 6 months.
1.First of all, it is better to start with rice soup (cook a small amount) for few few days, each soup of rice to get used to the taste and see if it is not allergic then add 2-3 crops per day.
2. After taking kids to soup we start mixing vegetables first. It is better to use same type of vegetables like (potatoes, carrots, codi, broccoli, spinach) and it is like rice soup, we will start with one cube for few days.
3. After raising children on vegetables we will start giving fruits like rice soup and vegetables ( better to give fruits after soup and vegetables not before because fruits are sweet as if children are used to sweet taste they will not eat soap and vegetables.)
4. From 6 months they will also start giving out grains like bread and salmon.
5. Starting from 9 months they will start feeding those foods with high protein like
~(meat , chicken, fish) ~peanuts( nice, nook, beans and mash) ~eggs (start with yellow egg first)
Better to start eating once a day, then increase to twice a day and then three times a day day (All food must be ready)
May Almighty Allah accept all our good deeds and bestow us the strength of emaan that will remove all the evils from our soul and grant us shifa from all the illnesses. Eid Mubarak

Common child health issues:-
Here’s a quick guide to some of the most common child health issues in kashmir
1.Allergies
Allergies happen when your child’s immune system reacts to substances in the environment that are harmless to most people – for example, foods, insect stings, dust mites, animals or pollen. See your doctor if you think your child has an allergy.
2.Asthma
If your child has asthma they might have a whistling wheeze when breathing, be short of breath either during physical activity or while they’re resting, have a persistent dry cough, or cough during physical activity or at night. If you think your child has asthma, see your doctor.
3.Colds
Children can get colds as often as once a month. The best treatment is usually fluids, comfort and rest. Antibiotics won’t help. If you’re worried that it’s something more serious than a cold, see your doctor.
4.Conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis is an infection of the lining of the eyeball and eyelids. Symptoms include red, puffy, sticky and sore eyes. Bacterial and viral conjunctivitis are very contagious, but allergic conjunctivitis isn’t contagious. Take your child to the doctor to check which kind of conjunctivitis your child has and how to treat it.
5.Food intolerances
Food intolerances are a reaction to a food you’ve eaten. Symptoms include bloating, diarrhea and stomach pain, which usually clear up by themselves. Talk to your doctor if you think your child has a food intolerance.
6.Gastroenteritis
Many children get gastroenteritis (‘gastro’). Symptoms include diarrhoea, loss of appetite, vomiting and nausea, stomach cramps and fever. Most cases of gastroenteritis in children aren’t serious, but it’s important to make sure that your child gets enough fluid.
7.Hand, foot and mouth disease
Hand, foot and mouth disease causes small blisters inside the mouth and on the hands and feet. These aren’t itchy. It’s a mild and harmless infection.
8.Impetigo
Impetigo or school sores usually starts as flat, red spots or small blisters anywhere on your child’s body. The spots might fill up with yellow or green pus, burst or crust over. The blisters are very itchy. If you think your child has impetigo, go to the doctor, because your child needs antibiotics. Impetigo is highly contagious so keep your child at home until they’ve been on antibiotic treatment for at least 24 hours.
9.Lice or nits
These insects attach themselves to children’s hair, lay eggs (often called nits), and cause a lot of scratching and itching. You can remove lice by combing wet hair with conditioner or using anti-lice products. Keep your child at home until you’ve treated the lice.
10.Warts
A wart is a small, flesh-coloured, raised growth. You mostly see them on children’s arms, hands and legs. Warts are usually painless. See your doctor if the wart is on your child’s face, feet or ge****ls, or if the wart looks red, hot and painful.
11.Worms
Symptoms of worms include an itchy or red bottom. Worms aren’t usually dangerous. They’re easy to treat with antiparasitic tablets that you can buy over the counter from your local pharmacy. You should treat everyone in the family at the same time. It’s very common for infections to come back, particularly in children at child care, preschool or school.
Child health tips:-
1.Make sure immunisations are up to date
Immunisation protects your child and your community against diseases like measles and diphtheria, which are potentially serious and even life threatening. Your child can be immunised by your doctor or at a community or local council health clinic.
2.Use medications only as needed.
You can use medications like paracetamol and ibuprofen without a prescription when your child has a fever or mild pain.
3.Keep your child’s air clean
Second-hand and third-hand smoke can cause serious health risks to children. The best way to protect your child is to quit smoking. If someone in your house smokes, make sure they always smoke outside. And never smoke in a car that carries children.
4.Also avoid using chemical household sprays, like insect repellent or cleaning products, when your child is in the room.
5.Hygiene
Daily personal hygiene is important for children and anyone taking care of children. It’s one of the most effective ways we have to protect ourselves and others from illness.
6.Brush twice a day
Good dental health is vital to your child’s general health. It’s also key to avoiding tooth decay.Brush your child’s teeth twice a day – morning and night. Just use water on the toothbrush until your child is 18 months old (unless a dentist tells you otherwise). At 18 months, you can start using a pea-sized amount of low-fluoride toothpaste.
Flu vaccines (influenza vaccines quadrivalent) available Al Noor health care centre.
Recommendations for influenza vaccine
1.An annual influenza vaccine for everyone 6 months and older.
2.Children should receive the flu vaccine as soon as it is available in their community and complete their vaccinations ideally by the end of October.
3.This year, all influenza vaccines for children will be quadrivalent vaccines, including two A and two B flu virus strains, to protect against the four strains of the influenza virus expected to circulate this season.
4.The quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV4) is available for intramuscular injection for everyone 6 months of age and older, including healthy persons and those with high-risk conditions.
5.There are various licensed formulations of inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV4) for infants and young children 6 to 35 months of age, including a 0.25 ml per dose and a 0.5 ml per dose formulation. The 0.5 ml formulation is the most widely available this season.
6.The number of recommended doses of influenza vaccine depends on a child's age at the time of the first administered dose and on their vaccine history. Children 6 months to 8 years of age should receive two doses if this is the first time they are being vaccinated against influenza, or if they have only received one dose of flu vaccine ever before July 1st, 2020.
Only one dose is necessary for children 9 years and older, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated before, and for children up to 8 years of age who have received at least two doses of influenza vaccine before July 1st, 2020, even if not given in the same season.
7.All children with egg allergy of any severity can receive influenza vaccine without any additional precautions beyond those recommended for any vaccine. Egg allergy is not a contraindication for influenza vaccination.
8.Pregnant women may receive influenza vaccine (IIV only) at any time during pregnancy. Maternal vaccination can protect infants in the first few months of life, which is important because there are no vaccines available for infants 0 to 6 months of age.
9.All health care personnel should receive an annual seasonal influenza vaccine to prevent influenza and reduce health care-associated influenza infections.

Tooth decay in infants and young children or toddlers is known as baby bottle tooth decay. It most commonly affects the upper front teeth but may involve other teeth.
Caries initially represents as brown spots on the teeth which worsen with time. Caries leads to the cavity formation, pain, swelling adjacent to the tooth that may progress to the severe infection and finally early tooth loss.
Baby bottle tooth decay:
The most common cause is the exposure of baby teeth with sweets or sugary fluids to go to bed. High sugar content in the juices, sweet milk or honey-dipped pacifier forms a sugary layer on the teeth for a longer time. Bacteria of the oral cavity are attracted by this sugary layer and will initiate decay in the milk teeth.
Oral care should start early.
Baby teeth are essential to save; otherwise, they will affect the child’s esthetics and health. Healthy teeth play a significant role in mastication and a healthy digestive system necessary for the body’s defence. Early loss of baby teeth will result in the crowding of permanent teeth as baby teeth are essential for the jaws’ growth so that there will be enough space for the aligned permanent teeth in the future.
Dental habits to avoid for your kid:-
It’s essential to take the preventive measures to save the baby teeth till the mixed dentition period begins i-e., six years approximately. Try to avoid adding sugar in the bottle to flavour milk or juice. Don’t allow the toddlers to sleep with a bottle. But if a bottle is must then fill it with water. And for the fussy kids who need pacifier at night for calm sleep. Never give them honey-dipped or sugary syrup coated pacifier at sleepy time.
Taking one step at a time
It’s mandatory to clean the gums and teeth of kids to maintain good oral hygiene. There are different ways to improve the baby’s mouth’s health status. Wipe the gums and the baby’s teeth after every bottle feed before nap, with the damp gauze on your finger.
Then, move forward to the soft toothbrush for the 6-12 months old baby. If mandatory, then apply only a small pea-size fluoridated toothpaste on the brush. But brushing should be done under parents’ supervision till the kid becomes sensible.
Every tooth in a man’s head is more valuable than a diamond. It’s mandatory to take care of your kid’s tooth so that your kid will enjoy every meal and every moment of the healthy life in the best possible way.

Constipation in infants less than one year of age is common, but it can be a source of concern for parents. Sometimes your baby is not really constipated, but must be given time to set his own schedule for having a bowel movement. Normally, an infant's stool is soft and easily passed. Even if an infant is not constipated, his bowel movements may be irregular.
In rare cases, constipation may be caused by a lack of nerves or by structural problems in the lower large intestine. Your baby can be tested for these conditions if your doctor feels it is necessary.
