Forest is a conditional renewable resource which can be regenerated but needs a certain period of time to maintain its sustainable functioning. In India, the forest resources have been found to be depleting at a pace which is much high. Rapid industrialization, urbanization and over-exploitation have resulted not only in decline but also in permanent loss of forest cover to an alarming rate. The major driver behind all these factors is the uncontrolled population growth of humans which leads to the dramatic increase in the demand for wood and forest products. The over-exploitation of forest resources has taken place beyond the sustained yields to fulfil the needs of humans, thus bringing a change in the net forest cover . With the current rate of population explosion, the world population could be expected to increase from 7.6 billion to about 10 billion in the next 30 to 35 years. The growing demand for food can be expected to rise by 50% in the given period, and it is a matter of serious concern. Rational utilization and proper management of the forest resources are the most viable ways to prevent mass destruction of forests and large-scale species extinction. It is necessary to find the links between the growing demands and meeting the demands in a sustainable manner.

Youngsters today move through a gruelling education system that goes on almost unendingly. Right from when parents send them to kindergarten at a tender age of 4 or 5 to completing their graduation, there is a constant barrage of information hurled at them. It is a puzzling task to make sense of this vast amount of unstructured information. On top of that, the bar to perform better than peers and meet expectations is set at a quite high level. This makes a youngster lose their curiosity and creativity under the burden. They know ‘how’ to do something but fail to answer the ‘why’. They spend their whole childhood and young age without discovering the real meaning of education.
Value-based education lays emphasis on the personality development of individuals in order to shape their future and tackle difficult situations with ease. It moulds the children so they get attuned to changing scenarios while handling their social, moral, and democratic duties efficiently. The importance of value education can be understood through its benefits as it develops physical and emotional aspects, teaches mannerism and develops a sense of brotherhood, instils spirit of patriotism as well as develops religious tolerance in students.
Value education should not be seen as a separate discipline but as something that should be inherent in the education system. Merely solving problems must not be the aim, the clear reason and motive behind must also be thought of.

“Childhood should be carefree, playing in the sun, not a nightmare in the darkness of the soul” –David James Pelzer
This quote becomes important here because the issue which is going to be discussed further is a very sensitive one. When we talk anything in relation to children and their rights, the most important thing to be kept in mind is that the future of any country highly depends upon the fact that what is the condition of children in that particular country. It the small children who are going to be the leaders and workforce of tomorrow.
Most children are pushed into the modern bo***ge of begging due to parental poverty, drug abuse or organised crimes units, the primary targets being the homeless, children from migrant families, slum children etc. According to a report by the Indian National Human Rights Commission approximately 40,000 children are abducted in India every year, which means one child goes missing every eight minutes.
During the base line survey it was found that the reason for getting involved in begging, child labor - was to scrapes together money for a meal or some food every day. Or tries to. In their small world, ‘survival of the fittest’ has little to do with Darwin’s evolutionary theory.
TEAS launched an initiative Project- Jagriti, to urgently get these child beggars off the streets into schools.
After our baseline survey, we conducted one on one session with the children's and their parents separately, empowering them about their children's future, importance of education and child labor act, and same with the children's.
We counsel them, provide them with nutritious meals, stationary items like books, pens, pencils, writing slates to attend Bridge Classes for literacy and numeracy before being helped with admission into the nearest government schools.

Global warming is happening, and its effects are being felt around the world. The only real debates are over how fast and how far the climate will change, and what society should do — the global-warming equivalents of lockdowns and social distancing — to slow or stop it and limit the damage.
Since the mid-1990s, the Arctic has been warming faster than any other region of the planet: currently, at least two and a half times as fast. (Last year, average air temperatures were about 3.5 degrees Fahrenheit, or 1.9 degrees Celsius, higher than the average from 1981-2010.)
In large part, the Arctic is warming the way the rest of the world warms, only up north the process has run amok.
The Central Arctic is all ocean — dark water that is covered, to a varying extent, by light ice. The ice absorbs only about 30 to 40 percent of the sunlight hitting it; the rest is reflected. Ocean, on the other hand, absorbs more than 90 percent.
As the Arctic warms more of the ice disappears, leaving more dark ocean to absorb more sunlight and radiate even more heat, causing even more loss of ice. It’s a vicious cycle that contributes to rapid warming in the region.
Scientists have high confidence that global temperatures will continue to rise for decades to come, largely due to greenhouse gases produced by human activities. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which includes more than 1,300 scientists from the United States and other countries, forecasts a temperature rise of 2.5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit over the next century.
According to the IPCC, the extent of climate change effects on individual regions will vary over time and with the ability of different societal and environmental systems to mitigate or adapt to change.

1:Periods are dirty
FACT: Menstruation is neither impure nor dirty — it’s just a natural function of a body that isn’t pregnant. What’s coming out is some blood and extra tissue grown in the uterus to accommodate a pregnancy
2:You can’t swim on your period
FACT:The truth is that you’re actually less likely to bleed at all when you’re in the water. The counter pressure of water might stop a menstrual flow from entering water
3:Contact from a menstruating woman or even her presence in the vicinity will spoil a wine or bread or pickle or any other food in making.
FACT: No modern scientific test has ever shown menstruation as a reason for spoilage of any food in making. As long as general hygiene measures are followed, menstruating women can prepare and handle food just like any other day.
4:A menstruating woman cannot offer prayers, take part in religious ceremonies, is forbidden from touching a sacred object or enter a place of worship.
FACT: A menstruating woman is not impure but she might like to. follow these practices as a respect for religious sentiments of others.
5:It is impossible to get pregnant during menstruation.
FACT: It is possible for a girl or a woman to get pregnant even if she is bleeding from her va**na.Sometimes ovulation may occur before menstruation is over and sometimes soon after menstruation is over. In both the cases giving a s***m in the va**na enough time to fertilize the egg.
6:Periods are shameful and shouldn’t be talked about
FACT: The whole point of debunking these period myths is to show that menstruation is actually just a very routine. It isn’t dirty, it doesn’t prevent someone from engaging in everyday activities like swimming or s*x, it’s not a mystery.

TUESDAY INSPIRATION
Shruti Krishna, a 42 year old Home scientist by education along with husband Krishna rented a land measuring 60x30 sq yards and started the plant nursery in the year 2011. All that the couple had were rented land, rented fish net and second hand shade net.
Hard work, dedication and some innovative thinking made Shruti get permission and registration for her nursery from the dept. of Horticulture, Karnataka state in the year 2012.
Thus the curtain was raised for VARASHREE NURSERY.
Shruti bought 20 acres of farm land on the other side of nursery and started 3 storied cultivation. As her business expanded, Varashree Farm and Nursery got certification by Medicine and Aromatics dept. of India. She started apiculture and aquaculture on her farm which is a big hit in the local market. Her home-made honey, homemade wine and homemade chocolates sold out like hot cakes, while the fish from her pond are pre booked before harvest.
Today Varashree Farm Nursery had become a regular exposure visit to all farmers, entrepreneurs and students from local, state, national and international platforms.
A happy and contented entrepreneur, Shruti resides in a beautiful home. With a twinkle in her eye, she gives a clear message with conviction that 'One can lead a happy life at village, practicing agriculture without compromising on the comforts of city life. She says - "staying at country side enables to breathe fresh air and help others to do the same. Trust mother earth and she will give back in multifold", it's her tag line.
