: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 4,000 𝙨𝙦𝙛𝙩, "𝙍𝙖𝙟𝙜𝙪𝙧𝙪 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚", 𝙎𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙖 >> The Clients brief for this home, to Design Firm, Mayur Gandhi & Associates, consisted of a home contemporary in style but having the essence of tradition. The house was designed with an approach of having a courtyard in the center which interacts with other spaces around. The orientation of the building is east-west, with the entrance on the east side fulfilling the requisite of vastu.

The central courtyard with tulsi vrindavan is enhanced by the play of light.The golden rays of light reaches the courtyard directly by worshiping the sacred tulsi Vrindavan. No openings are provided on the south side to prevent harsh light and glaze. An outdoor space on south east has been designed framing the view of the mountains and vertical fins are provided on east side to maintain privacy and create a visual barrier and covered terrace is designed on north eastside to enjoy a morning coffee.

The living room is double height to connect the upper and lower level. Courtyard brings the people of the house to get and creates a better bond within. Pockets have been created on the staircase wall to get in the day light and at night it gives an aesthetic to the building as lights are placed inside every pocket. Interior has been designed very minimally and every room has separate space for changing. Use of wood and veneer gives interior a traditional look which makes room cozier.

The Residence is a luxurious 3,400 Sqft Penthouse with 4 bedrooms, living, dining, kitchen and a private terrace. Sitting on the 11th floor, in one of the prime locations in (India), this apartment offers a panoramic view of the busy and ever growing city.

The only tangible request from the client was to incorporate french doors and windows. This eventually inspired us to apply the Scandinavian school of thought and English accents.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘴, 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘧𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺. This neutrality is balanced by using minimal floral accents, colors and ornamentation. The material palette is a neat one focusing on the use of natural and earthy materials.

The residence follows an open planning with minimum partitions and unobstructed views. This seamlessness is enhanced by the 1,800 Sq. Ft. micro concrete floor which sets the tone for the entire house. The earthy and expansive floor transforms the house as a whole.

The furniture in the entire residence is carefully handcrafted, curated and customized specifically for the client. The family is deeply connected to each other and their roots. The bare and gray walls hence adorn their travel experiences, memorabilia and the opportunity to add to their collection of art over time.

: 𝘊𝘰𝘴𝘺 𝘌𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 - 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘱 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 '𝙑𝙖𝘼𝙎𝘼𝙡', 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘈𝘭𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘉𝘢𝘣𝘶'𝘴 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘊𝘰𝘵𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦-𝘴𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦 𝘝𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘔𝘙 >> '𝘝𝘢𝘈𝘚𝘈𝘭', is the home of comedian Alexander Babu and his family. The Villa, located within a gated community on the OMR, was renovated by Design Firm .rani, to be a cosy and charming space, loosely modelled on cottage style design.

The ground level comprises the living, dining, kitchen and one bedroom; bedrooms and a lounge occupy the first level and Alex’s home office, studio and a writing room make up the second floor.

Greens, whites, and blacks form the primary colour theme across the ground level, accentuated by a soft pink lending a vintage vibe; a fair bit of color diversity is seen in level one as well. A white brick wall takes center stage in the double height space, fitted with a custom chandelier. Wood is seen oft repeated across the spaces as well, in the furniture, ceiling treatments and wardrobe shutters bringing in warmth. Tropical and related prints seen on the textiles; wall art reinforce the broad theme of the house and lend freshness.

A conception of Principal Architect Niharika Veerabommala of Design Firm , this structure, previously a bungalow, 𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘯 & 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳.

This house has come to be through an extensive renovation process, and innovative usage of the existing columns and beams. The vertical expansion, while compensating for an unavailability of land, shines strikingly through the facade. The solid and granular textured walls visually bifurcate the house while the double-height spaces create an illusion of a larger volume. All these elements work together in perfect harmony to add depth and dimension to the space.

Drawing inspiration from the versatile nature of clay, this residence harmoniously marries traditional Indian aesthetics with contemporary design sensibilities, creating a haven of timeless beauty.

The formal drawing room welcomes guests with plush seating amidst hues of rust and green, while repurposed Rajasthani doors stand as striking focal points.
