Here’s a recent video we edited for the Snow Leopard Foundation on the occasion of World Snow Leopard Day on October 23rd.
The SLP works toward the protection of the endangered Snow Leopards in the mountain ranges of East and South Asia. They do this through the GSLEP (The Global Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection Program) GSLEP is an alliance of all snow leopard range countries, non-governmental organizations, multi-lateral institutions, scientists and local communities who work together towards conservation of Snow Leopard habitats.

THE MAKING OF ‘NAALE BAA’
Here’s what went into the making of Naale Baa.
We started off with discussions of how we wanted to present the idea that we had. We had to take into account time and practicality. After discussions and watching some references, we decided that a paper cut + 2D animation was the way to go.
We studied Bangalore houses, and our references helped us zero in on the treatment. We then sketched out our plan and created a trial set. Our first set was too yellow, and the dimensions were slightly off. Then we made some changes in the art direction for the final set, which worked well.
We spent one day putting together the rig and lighting so our stop motion could be easier to execute. The next day was for arts and crafts - cutting and painting, creating tiny details. Ever single element on our set was a separate paper cut out, from the door to the monkey tops, the lemon and chillies and even the eyes on the drishti doll!
The shoot itself took about two hours, and the 2D animation of the ghost took a few more hours.
We’re excited to make more like this!
Happy halloween!
“Naale Baa” is an urban legend from Karnataka and a cultural phenomenon that became very popular in the 2010s. ‘Naale Baa’ literally means “come tomorrow.” According to the myth, the ghoul visits your door and sees “Naale Baa,” being forced into an endless loop of coming tomorrow.
Here’s our take on the myth.
Our horror-loving illustrator led the team in making this video with paper cut stop motion and 2D animation

Happy Tuesday! Would you like a kitten?
(1-3) Barfi is curious and enterprising - he was the first to pop out (first born), climb and jump. He loves k-pop and k-drama, exploring and cuddling. Favourite film: Top Gun
(4-6) Jamun has tiny mittens and the face of a baby snow leopard. He is very affectionate, already a lap cat. He loves avant-garde cinema, and particularly likes films of the French New Wave. Favourite Film: À bout de souffle (Breathless)
(7-9) Oreo is the scrappy runt of the litter. His taste ranges from documentary to regional Indian films. He also enjoys wrestling his siblings, and climbing into chappals. Favourite film: A toss up between Pather Panchali and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro

Here's a snippet from a film we made for APNSW (Asia Pacific Network of S*x Workers) in collaboration with IWRAW-AP (International Women's Rights Action Watch, Asia-Pacific). We interviewed s*x workers from across South and Southeast Asia about the impact of criminalisation on their lives and their rights, as well as about their work with communities and legal systems.

We had the opportunity to edit this film for Fearless Collective! They partnered with , a Bangalore-based social impact organisation that focuses on Justice for Waste Workers, to create a beautiful mural (which we’re sure you’ve seen) at the Public Utility Building, MG Road.
They conducted a workshop with the community, and evolved the design of the mural from that process - which aimed at affirming the essential role women waste pickers and Pourakarmikas play maintaining and regenerating Bangalore. This is a short trailer/excerpt - do watch the whole film at the link in 's bio!

From the archives - a short film we made about the potholes and the pitfalls of Bangalore's crumbling infrastructure. We then proceeded to post it on the BBMP's page (it promptly got taken down). We did see some repairs done in a couple of areas featured in the film, but within a year, things were back as before. Still relevant, unfortunately so.

Here’s a quick cinemagraph, shot here at the studio. Cinemagraphs are a hybrid of static image and video, that appear to loop infinitely. This particular one is inspired by BESCOM and the Bangalore rains. 📷 by
