Math is taking a new shape in the workshop. Turning numbers into structures through math carpentry by the students of Vishwa Vidyapeeth.
The math carpentry classes in September actively involved our children in making simple objects like pen stand and duster. It encouraged the children to have a hands on experience of taking the accurate measurement, using carpentry tools and making simple and useful objects.
The month of August was a very exciting month for math carpentry, students as they were introduced to carpentry tools and were given a hands on experience to use them one by one.
Students explored the carpentry tools and learnt the advantage of each one of them.
Math Carpentry is an integration of tough mathematical concepts in simple technical learning of carpentry. This is introduced to the children from this academic year to achieve the learning objective of precision, efficiency in learning and to encourage the problem solving skills in the young minds. This July month, the math teachers introduced the math carpentry to the children by teaching them simple measurements.
Tell me and I forget , Teach me and I may remember , Involve me and I will surely learn. This quote captions the essence of experiential learning, emphasizing that the active participation leads to deeper understanding of the content.
Our Gnanavatika students of grade 8 explored the vast beauty of nature as they visited Leh and Ladakh for a week starting from 29.06.2024. They can never forget this trip as it created a life time memory in the young minds. The visited places included SECMOL school, Sangam point, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Shanthistupa, Khardungla pass, Maithreya Buddha monastery, Hunder sand dunes, Apricot cultivation, Changla pass, Pangong lake, Thiksey monastery, Ranchio school and Sindhu Ghat.

An Insight into the Characters of the Ramayana!
Day 1: Dr. P Vinay Acharya was invited to the Ramayana Darshanam workshop who introduced the characters of the Ramayana. Acharya also briefed the students on the values that can be inculcated in our lives through these characters of the Ramayana.
Day 2 : Dr. Srinidhi Pyati was the guest to preach on the eternal message of the Ramayana emphasising the significance of righteousness (dharma), unwavering loyalty and the ultimate triumph of good over evil, guiding the students in our moral choices and actions.
Day 3 : Dr. Ramakrishna Pejathaya had given insight on exploring the depiction of Ramayana stories in temple sculptures across Bharata Varsha. Participants has examined the intricate artistry and narratives captured in these carvings, highlighting key scenes and characters from the epic Ramayana. The discussion will also address how these sculptures reflect cultural values and religious significance. Overall, the session aims to deepen appreciation for the Ramayana's influence on Indian art and heritage.
Day 4 : Dr. Suneel Acharya narration on the Ramayana, delved into the remarkable attributes of the greatest epic, showcasing its profound themes of duty, devotion and morality. It highlighted the epic's rich character portrayals, including the virtues of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, as well as the complexities of figures like the demon Ravana.
On 31st August 2024, Class X students visited Kolar, exploring historic temples like Kolaramma, Someshwara, Sharada Devi, and Ramalingeshwara, each showcasing unique architecture and religious significance. They also toured a village sculpting factory, observing traditional stone-carving techniques. The trip offered a rich insight into Kolar’s cultural heritage.

In the month of February under CCA, students of classes I to VII have participated in various competitions with the theme CANCER AWARENESS.
Students of classes I & II participated in Crafting cards. To raise awareness about cancer by crafting cards. Students spread messages of “hope and support” to cancer patients.
Students of class III, IV & V took part in the competition “Making a badge” and highlighting cancer awareness aligned with the Cancer Day theme.
Students of classes VI & VII were inspired to showcase their creativity in making a collage. Students were motivated to stand up to Cancer with creativity to make "collages" aligned with the Cancer Day theme.
In the month of January under CCA, students of classes I to X have participated in various competitions under the theme Computer Science.
Students of classes I & II participated in Collage making different types of mouse and Keyboard.
Students of classes III, IV and V enthusiastically designed a birthday greeting card for their near and dear ones using MS Paint tools.
Students of class VI formatted a worksheet using MS-EXCEL.
Class VII students made greeting cards using HTML tags.
Class VIII students designed a Republic day invitation card using HTML and CSS tags.
Classes IX & X students wrote Python Coding and debugging errors.
HOT AND COLD PILLOW
Harini Seetharaman, Student of class 6 identified a common problem faced by people of all age groups and gave an innovative solution for it. The same has been selected for MANAK INSPIRE award of Rs.10,000 for the year 2023-24 for the preparation of a science project/model and to participate in the District Level Exhibition and Project Competitions (DLEPCs) to be organized by the District Education Authority.
The Project Details:
The problem identified was, that a variety of people could develop headaches or muscle spasms often, mostly women, or teens due to stress, depression, head injury, or anxiety.
A hot and cold pillow could calm their nerves and compress the buildup of muscle tension in their neck and head region and any other part as well.
People of all ages benefit because a muscle spasm or headache can happen at any time due to sudden movement, sleeping on the wrong side, being too close to the TV screen, or trying to read in the dark.

The festival of Mahashivratri was celebrated with devotion and sanctity in the veneration of Lord Shiva on Thursday, 07/03/2024.
The programme commenced with Principal Ma'am lighting the diya in front of Lord Shiva's portrait. Students enthusiastically participated in the assembly and narrated the importance of the festival and sang Shiv stotram.
Shiva tandavam was highlighted through a dance performance depicting the celebration of Mahashivratri which left an abiding impression in everyone’s heart. The students and the teachers were filled with spiritual fervour.
In the month of December under CCA, students of classes I to X have participated in various competitions with the theme MATH MANIA.
Students of Classes I & II understood the importance of numbers in real life while participating in the competition Comparing Numbers. It was impressively portrayed by them.
Students of classes III, IV & V were delighted to be part of the Bhaskara Aryabhatta Game. They were trained to say the multiples of a number between 2 and 8 by saying Aryabhatta or Bhaskara which was fun.
Students of VI, VII & VIII participated in Tessellations. They understood the length of the sides of different tiles and used the information to measure distance and perimeter.
Students of classes IX & X took part in Music and Math inter relation. They prepared an essay of 200 or more words on the interrelation of Math and Music stressing how Mathematics is used in music.
