|| See Jesus in The Word ||

When you come to God’s Word desiring to see Jesus and you find Him and behold Him in the Word, something special happens to you. LIFE is supernaturally imparted to you. God is in the ministry of supplying life to every area of your life. In the Book of Proverbs, it says that God’s words “are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh”. (Proverbs 4:22) This means that if you are tired, reading God’s Word will recharge and energize you. If you are depressed, it will pull you out of the darkness of depression, set your mind free and bring peace and joy. And if you are sick, it will bring a flood of healing and divine health to your body!

There will be an impartation of God’s kind of health and life to every area of your life. It comes not just by simply reading the Word superficially, but by seeing Jesus in the Word. Seeing His goodness toward you, His manifold excellencies and glories, and especially His perfect Love & sacrifice for you.

When Jesus opened up the Scriptures to two of His disciples along the road to Emmaus, and “expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself” (Luke 24:27), it had a profound effect on the dejected disciples. Their hearts burned within them with the warmth of God’s love as He showed them how the stories, feasts and laws in the Old Testament books were all talking about Him and His sacrifice at Calvary.

And at the end of that life-producing Bible study, the disciples were no longer a tired, confused and depressed duo. They were divinely uplifted, energized and revived and even walked the whole seven miles back to Jerusalem. That’s what seeing Jesus in the Word and receiving His life will do to your body and soul!

"Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful."

The word “meditate” in Hebrew is the word "hagah", which means to utter or mutter under your breath, or to ponder in your mind and speak it for yourself.
In other words, when you meditate on God’s Word, you speak forth or confess His Word instead of just giving it mental assent.

Meditating on God’s Word does not mean making vain repetitions of scriptures. It is much more and is something that first occurs deep in your heart.

As you meditate on God’s Word, ask the Holy Spirit to give you a fresh revelation of Jesus. Let that scripture burn with revelation in your heart. And as you speak out of that burning revelation, God anoints the words that you speak. When you declare, “By His stripes I am healed,” and that declaration is uttered with a sense of revelation and faith in Jesus, there will be power in your declaration!

A legend tells of a man who used to carry water every day to his village, using two large pots tied on either end of a piece of wood, which he placed across his shoulders.

One of the pots was older than the other and was full of small cracks; every time the man came back along the path to his house, half of the water was lost.

For two years, the man made the same journey. The younger pot was always very proud of the way it did its work and was sure that it was up to the task for which it had been created, while the other pot was ashamed that it could carry out only half its task, even though it knew that the cracks were the result of long years of work.

So ashamed was the old pot that, one day, while the man was preparing to fill it up with water from the well, it decided to speak to him.
“I wish to apologize because, due to my age, you only manage to take home half the water you fill me with, and thus quench only half the thirst awaiting you in your house.”

The man smiled and said:
“When we go back, be sure to take a careful look at the path.”
The pot did as the man asked and noticed many flowers and plants growing along one side of the path.

“Do you see how much more beautiful nature is on your side of the road?” the man remarked. “I knew you had cracks, but I decided to take advantage of them. I sowed vegetables and flowers there, and you always watered them. I’ve picked dozens of roses to decorate my house, and my children have had lettuce, cabbage and onions to eat. If you were not the way you are, I could never have done this.”

“But we have this Treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” 2 Cor. 4:7

In the book of Zechariah chapter four, the Prophet Zechariah saw a vision of the golden Lampstand.

The Golden Lampstand was the only source of light in the Holy Place. There were no windows. There was a roof made of four curtains, one on top of the other. It would have been very dark inside the Tabernacle without the lampstand to illumine it. Of course, the Lampstand, like all the other objects in the Tabernacle speaks of Jesus Christ. He is the Light of the world. He is the Light of life.

-The lampstand was made of pure gold (Ex.25:31); signifying the purity, beauty & the preciousness of our Lord Jesus Christ. Nothing on earth compares with Him.

-The Lampstand Was Made of Hammered Work (Ex.25:31): The preciousness of our Saviour is seen in that He was willing to be hammered and beaten in order to redeem you and me.

-The Lampstand is perfectly balanced (with 1 Central Shaft, and 6 Branches) (Ex.25:32): Christ is represented as the central shaft of the Lampstand. The six branches coming out from the side represent His people, the Church. When we remain connected to Him as a Church, we find our lives perfectly held together and balanced in Jesus.

-The Church Is To Shine Before Men. Mt. 5:14-16: He has appointed us, His church, to be the light of the world now! We, as the church, are light bearers, not light producers. Jesus Christ is the true light. We are just vessels that bear Him. He is the One who shines. But He lives inside of us, and when He shines, it looks to the world like we are shining. It’s really the difference between the sun and the moon. God made the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night. The sun produces light – the moon reflects it. The moon has no light of its own. But it can reflect it, and when it does, it looks like it is shining.
Friends, the Lord wants to live through you. He wants to manifest His goodness, and righteousness, and truth through you. He wants to shine His light through you. However, you must “let” your light shine before men. You must allow it. He wants it. But you must let it.

And as God spoke through the prophet Zechariah to Zerubbabel, this is only possible because of the unending supply of the Holy Spirit to the lamps “and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps.” (Zech 4:2)
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
Says the LORD of hosts.
‘Who are you, O great mountain?
Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain!
(Zech 4:6)

As you remain in fellowship with our Lord and His Church, His light will shine in and through you.

In the book of Zechariah 10:1, the verse says, “Ask the Lord for rain in the day of latter rain.” It is interesting that God would have us pray for something that He is already willed to do. God works with faith. He works with you asking Him. If I ‘am praying for rain, when it is supposed to rain then my heart is ready to move with him when He moves. God loves it when we align ourselves with Him and pray for the blessings He wants to give us. -That rain is the out pouring of the Holy Spirit.

The answer to that prayer is in verse 3, where the Lord says, “I’m going to visit my flock,” which are His sheep,” bought with His blood, fed them and taken care of them “and now transform them into War Horses”. The Lord says I’m going to visit my sheep, that has the tendency to get afraid and get lost easy, and I am going to transform them into strong & glorious War Horses.

War Horses are some of the most amazing animals; they are trained and built for war, they see war and run straight into it, they can run through a burning fire and not be afraid. A War Horse can kill the enemy charging against him. They have an amazing ability to discern which members of the army are on their team and which are the enemy. They have a strong connection with the rider and can hear and follow instructions in the midst of darkness & chaos around them. They just trample and stomp. They are driven to battle.

Believers are called God’s sheep, but they can be stupid, scared, get lost easy, can’t defend themselves. And when God visits that kind of people during the outpouring, they are going to be transformed from sheep to War Horses. From sheep that get lost easy to war horses who know where to run. They run into the thick of the battle, in the eye of the storm.

We are in a battle right now, the enemy is waging war against us and our land, and he is trying to steal, kill and destroy our marriages, our youths, our children, our influence and our health. It is time for us to fight the enemy, because the Lord is with us, He goes with us to battle and He will strengthen us (Zechariah 10:5-6).

Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Hosts. –Zechariah 4:6

Let us ask the Lord for Rain.

Zechariah was a prophet to Israel when the Jews had started to return to Jerusalem from their captivity in Babylon. But the situation the Jews faced on returning was pretty hopeless. They were an impoverished people recently returned from a long exile in captivity, they had no much resource left, they faced severe opposition, were ridiculed, discouraged and everything that once stood strong & beautiful about the City & the Temple was now left in utter ruins.

And God speaks to them, encouraging and inviting them to Return & Hope in Him.
“Return to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.”
–Zechariah 9:12

The ‘stronghold’ is believed to be Jerusalem and it also is a representative of God Himself who is our ‘Strong tower and fortress’ who protects and defends us on all sides (Psalm 91:2). It is where we belong; His presence is our dwelling place, therefore the call to return to where we belong.

God calls them ‘prisoners of hope’. The Jews were hopeless and helpless from the world’s point of view but ‘prisoners of hope’ from God’s perspective. Hope for the world is just “wishful thinking”, but the Biblical meaning of the word ‘hope’ is ‘a confident and eager expectation of something good’.

People can become prisoner of depression, addiction, sickness and fear, but God desires us to be ‘prisoners of hope’. A prisoner is one bound to something and held captive. Hope should hold our hearts and minds captive. Why? Because hope gives substance to our faith (Hebrews 11:1), hope is also the ANCHOR to our faith (Hebrews 6:19). What happens when an anchor has been cut away from the ship? The ship is then subject to every wave, every gust of wind as it is blown across the water. This leaves us feeling helpless and hopeless. But as we are anchored to hope, it in turn fuels our faith. And our faith pleases the Father and elicits a response. It draws the pleasure of the Father and releases the blessing of restoration—and we are told with that release it brings TWICE as much of what was taken.

After 70 years of captivity, the children of Israel returned from Babylon under Zerubbabel, the governor and Joshua, the High Priest appointed over them. When they returned to their land, the children of Israel set out to rebuild the temple of God but their enemies complained to the king, they faced severe opposition, and lacked resources and therefore stopped the rebuilding of the temple for at least 15 years.

Even their appointed leaders Zerubbabel and Joshua were both discouraged. They had lost faith and confidence in their assignment. So God raised two young prophets, Haggai and Zechariah, to encourage them.

“So the elders of the Jews continued to build and prosper under the preaching of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah, a descendant of Iddo. They finished building the temple according to the command of the God of Israel and the decrees of Cyrus, Darius and Artaxerxes, kings of Persia.” – Ezra 6:14(NIV).

Even today, in this pandemic environment, everything around us seems to be falling, all human strength and resources are depleting. Fear, discouragement and anxiety may be gripping us, threatening to bring everything once glorious into ruins.

But remember …God is a builder! and His promise is, that He will build His Church.
You are His Church, You have a destiny and you are called for an assignment. The Lord has given you gifts and He has anointed you. Your gifts may be similar to others’ but the way it flows and operates out of you is unique, just like your fingerprints.

The best way to find out what God has for you is to come together in God’s house and hear the Word preached. Within the preached Word, you will hear God’s personal word for you.

And just like how the Jews built the temple and prospered, through the preaching of the prophets, your life can be built and prospered through the Word of God, even in the midst of all the ruins around you.

Listen to the preached Word and align yourself with the Lord’s opinion of you. You will prosper.

In the book of Ezra we read of the People of Israel who were under Lock-down, held captive by the Babylonians. They were decimated by Nebuchadnezzar, who laid the ruins of a once magnificent Temple.

Distraught, Ezra looks on, clothes torn apart, kneeling in the dust; he was ashamed and humiliated at his people's sin and iniquity. Overwhelmed he cries out his lament to God - he says something strikingly beautiful:
"And now for a little while grace has been shown from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bo***ge. For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bo***ge; but He extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to repair the house of our God, to rebuild its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem." (Ezra 9:8-9)

Ezra leads people back into relationship with God through the reading of the Word, through the act of Worship. In turn, leading people back into right relationship with God (Intimacy) ...and that sparks a REVIVAL among the people.

This is an extraordinary image of how God can repair, revive and rebuild our life. Even in the midst of the darkest circumstances, even in the midst of bo***ge, when things are dead and dying, He can breathe life into our ruins.

No matter what is going on in your world (family, marriage, health, work, finances) right now, God is showing Grace for a while and extending Mercy to us, let us respond to Him, recommitting and prioritizing our lives.

This is the season to Revive, Repair and Rebuild our lives.
