AMBADAS
This Year is Ambadas century.
It is Unbelievable.
He was born first of july in 1922 in a village near Akola in Maharashtra. The youngest of 6 children. The family mooved to Akola when he was a child. His father rented and looked after mangogardens. Ambadas spent much time in theese gardens and often accompanied his father in the bullockcart with the harvest to the market. He cherished and was inspired by theese memories through out.
I think of Ambadas and miss him. I miss our time together and our precious times together with friends in India and Norway, our interesting talks, his Wonderful smile and laughter, his integrity and even his stubbornnes. I miss his devotion to his work, nothing was more important. Abstract expression was the path and the truth. He was the love of my life and will always be.
Ambadas loved India and his visits to his homeland from Norway was very important for him. He loved to be with his artist friends in Dehli, Bombay and Bhopal, and with friends and family in Akola

It is sad to think that nearly all of the friends from the artistgroup «Group 1890» from the late sixties is no more. May they all rest in peace. Ambadas passed away 18 May 2012.

The works depicted are from the memorial exhibition in Gallery Dobloug in Oslo in 2014, except for one from the Natuonal Museum of Modern Art in New Dehli. His palett became lighter and more transparent over the years as for many artists. Some says it might be the influence of the special light in Norway
