Participate and spread awareness on Palliative Care
Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust is celebrating World Hospice and Palliative Care Day(WHPCD)on 14th October 2023.
WHPCD is an annual unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world. This year’s Theme being “Compassionate Communities Together for Palliative Care” who else would we be celebrating with other than the most compassionate you.

Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust & Centurion University of Technology and Management organised a workshop on "Community Based Palliative Care Service" on 22nd August 2023 at CUTM, Gopalpur, Balasore Campus.
In this workshop Dr. Mami Parija (MD Anesthesiology, Apollo Hospital, and President, Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust), Ms. Namrata Rath (Managing Trustee, Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust) highlighted the meaning, importance, requirement and process of Palliative Care. Dr. Sangram Keshari Swain (Dean Examination & Dean Students Welfare, CUTM), and Dr. Nityananda Sahoo (Principal, SOP, CUTM, Balasore) shared their experiences on the above topic.
More than 200 students from School of Pharmacy, Paramedics and Nursing participated. At the end, it was formally announced to start a Palliative Club and more than 25 students become the members of the club of their own interest. The successful event was completed with a vote of thanks by student coordinator to all.
Two day’s of training & workshop on developing volunteer assisted home care services by Amrit Dhara Palliative Care.This was a follow up of earlier session held in January 2023. The workshop was led by Dr Mami parija (president) of the Centre and her Team.
More than 40 volunteers actively participated throughout the wirkshop.
Dr Ganpathy led the volunteers thru different home care situations, & its challenges and How volunteers can help primary care team. The workshop also discussed, through multiple cases, the dos & donts by volunteers.

We were fortunate to welcome Ms, Gilli Burn, a palliative care expert from U K, working for the cause of palliative care in India, educating people and professionals involved across India since 1989 when she was asked by WHO to access requirement of palliative care in India. The Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust, Bhubaneswar, and the IAPC, jointly trained 35 enthusiastic nurses and volunteers in volunteering for Palliative care between 6th and 8th January, 2023.
These 2.5 days workshop was the 16-hour ‘Part A’ component of the IAPC's 'Certificate Course in Palliative Care for Volunteers' which was packed with value adding sessions on the entire trajectory of Palliative care.
Local resource persons shared their rich experiences as they imparted knowledge about the basic concepts and principles of palliative care, with special emphasis on the avenues for volunteer contribution to the Multi Disciplinary Teams of Palliative Care.
The candidates will now proceed to a 16-hour practical 'Part B' component of the course, in a recognised palliative care center of their choice.
The training program was led by Dr Kv Ganpathy, Dr Mami Parija and Dr Sumita Mohanty.
Sensitising community and community workers about palliative care for cancer patients and providing them service at different levels as per the needs of patients at different stage of the condition with their help is what Amrit Dhara thrives for.
As a journey forward, we celebrated World Cancer Day on 4th February, 2023 at Urban Primary Health Center, Shikharchandi.
Cyclathon organised byAmrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust to sensitise community about the necessity of compassionate heart to heal the terminally ill and the bereaved family members.

Nurses from Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust, AHPGIC, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Apollo hospital, Bhubaneswar, and Palliative & Rehabilitation center participated. They spoke about their experiences and emphasized the vital need for palliative care for cancer patients and their families.
Mrs. Namrata Rath gave a welcome address. Prof Dr Bidhu K Mohanti, Prof Dr Madhabananda Kar, and Prof Dr Sumita Mohanty were present and stressed the need to increase the nursing workforce and also spoke about a nurse's critical role in palliative care setup. It was an engaging, interactive session.
