In this video, we have learned how transverse load is applied on the beam that leads to the generation of internal forces like bending moment and shear force. Bending moment is max in the beam at the middle portion in the bottom of the beam and at the ends, it is maximum on top. So we design beams accordingly. To counter these max positive and negative bending moments we provide extra reinforcement on the top at the supports. While in the middle portion of the beam, we provide extra reinforcement at the bottom. How to provide these reinforcements and for what length that is explained in the video.
