The prevention of recurrence of diabetic foot ulcers, lies in treating toe and foot deformities.

This patient presented to us after having undergone amputation for the great toe and a non healing ulcer in the 2nd toe. An ulcer that would not heal due to continuous friction during walking.

Along with treatment of ulcer, this patient underwent a toe deformity correction for toe tip ulcer. Note the amount of improvement in the angle and correction of deformity. This ‘Surgical offloading’ goes a long way in ulcer healing and preventing recurrences.

An important facet of Plastic Surgery is deformity correction whether be it in post burn , post traumatic or diabetic foot ulcers .

Diabetic foot surgery has evolved over the years, from being only infection control surgeries to deformity corrections.

It is now an established fact that diabetic foot ulcers and their recurrences are due to biomechanical factors and mismanaged deformities.

Pts with diabetic ulcers suffer silently till they are mentally, physically and financially drained out.

This lovely patient of ours from Delhi chose us for her Rhinoplasty. She had suffered a trauma to her nose 2 yrs back in which she lost the normal nasal anatomy and had difficulty in breathing. Her nose appeared swollen , distorted and she had been living with it since then.

This lady was not happy with the appearance of her nose. She felt it was droopy (tip) with a hanging base (columella). Her nose appeared flat ( plateaued) from the front/ profile view . Her nasal tip heights were unequal and she lacked the triangular definition as seen from below.

She also had functional issues with her breathing which were corrected.

She is now extremely happy with the results and so are we !

Gynecomastia (Man b***s)- It is a problem which can be socially embarrassing for men as well as professionally uncomfortable. We understand that men suffering from this may be depressed, due to social embarrassment, may not be actively involved in outdoor sports activities like swimming, etc, may not be able to wear tight fit clothes and may be feeling dejected about it. However, you may not be the only one suffering from it as significant percentage of men suffer from it, but choose to do nothing about it (Up to 30-40% in different populations). It could be due to a small abnormal variation during development of breast in childhood through adolescence (due to hormonal interplay).
