Many babies are born with a hole in the heart known as ventricular septal defects.
If undiagnosed, they can develop into cardiac failure, repeated lung infections, and fall in growth of the baby.
With advanced ultrasound machines, now we can detect these problems, during the Anomaly ultrasound, ie 5th month scan .
Timely diagnosis of these heart problems of baby can save a lot of lives.

Twin Pregnancy....double the joy...
Twin Pregnancies are of Four different types depending on the sharing of placenta( chorionicity) by the babies.
But along with it comes its own set of complications to the mother and the babies.
A proper timely assessment of the exact nature of the type of twins in as early as an Nuchal Translucency scan, by trained experts, will help in averting many complications of this type of pregnancy.
The lateral 4 chamber view of the heart demonstrates the integrity of the crux of the heart( Junction of the inter-atrial septum, inter-ventricular septum, and both atrio-ventricular valves ( Mitral and Tricuspid).
The rendering of this view with color flow demonstrates the intactness of both the membranous as well as the muscular portions of the Interventricular septum.
A lot of structural problems like partial and complete AVSD, membranous and muscular Ventricular septal defects can be diagnosed even at the time of anomaly scan..provided it is done by experts.

10th of May is World Lupus day
SLE( systemic lupus erythematosus) and other connective tissue disorders are more common in females.
SLE in a pregnant mother can be associated with autoimmune antibodies which can cross the placenta and can affect the conduction system of the heart of baby growing inside the womb.
Such Babies can have heart block while still inside the womb.
A timely assessment of the conduction pathway of such babies by expert can help in early diagnosis of such problem and better management.
The Great vessels (Main pulmonary artery and the Ascending Aorta) should cross each other after emerging from their respective ventricles.( as depicted by the two fountains crossing each other in the video)
If they don't cross over, then it arises the suspicion of Great vessel abnormalities like TGA( transposition of great arteries), DORV(Double outlet Right ventricle).
Something which is more likely seen in fetuses of diabetic mothers
These babies after birth have high chance of turning blue(cyanosis)and require corrective heart surgeries.
A diligently done anomaly scan can help in early diagnosis and timely management in tertiary cardiac care centres.

Sometimes a loop of cord might be around the neck of the baby during NT scan ..it doesnt do any harm to the baby. But can lead to error in measurement.

The new FIGO classification has modified Abnormally Invasive Placenta disorders to Placenta Acrreta Spectrum( PAS).
Placenta might pe*****te into the wall of the uterus and will not separate of its own after the child birth.
A diligently performed Ultrasound examination performed by a high-risk pregnancy expert can help in effective management and complete surgery of the pathology.
Timely diagnosis will help in saving precious life
