In Piravom Puzha, a once vibrant river in Kerala, pollution has taken its toll. What was once a bustling waterway for trade is now a dumping ground for waste, including plastic and slaughterhouse refuse. Despite its sorry state, Piravom Puzha remains a vital water source for over 10 lakh people in Central Kerala.
A group of locals, led by Jils Periappuram, formed 'Save Piravom Puzha' to clean up the river. Their recent efforts received community support, but much more needs to be done. Pollution continues unchecked, posing serious health risks.
The story of Piravom Puzha is a stark reminder of the importance of environmental conservation. It shows that even small actions can make a big difference. Local authorities must join hands with initiatives like 'Save Piravom Puzha' to protect this precious water body.
