Textile Testing Workshop

Fashion Designing Department of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Chandigarh GGDSD College, Chandigarh organised a workshop on "Textile fibre testing" in collaboration with Dr Samriti Dhawan, Department of Bio- technology, GGDSD college Chandigarh. Dr Sumita Sikka, Head of the Fashion Designing Department extended a cordial welcome to the learned speaker, faculty members and 60 students of B. Voc FTAD. Dr. Samriti Dhawan firstly introduced us to the topics: Textiles fibre testing and use of foldscope. She then gave a presentation on the same and also conducted practical experiments including burning test and microscopic test of different fibres. Faculty members Ms. Priya Malik, Ms Diksh*ta Chauhan, Ms. Rupali Jindal also attended the session. Students of the department gained a lot from this workshop, which was followed by an interactive session where participants and speaker indulged in the active discussions. Ms Tania Sharma, organising secretary presented a formal vote of thanks to the speaker and also expressed her sincere gratitude to GGDSD management society and Dr. Ajay Sharma Principal, GGDSD college for their support and encouragement.

As an initiative under G-20 Awareness TrendsModa Club of Fashion Designing Department, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector 32C, Chandigarh organized a "Tattoo Making Competition" on the occasion of International Women's Day on 4th March 2023. 15 students participated enthusiastically in the event. Various themes related to women qualities like love, power, strength, care etc were given to the participants on the spot through cue cards and they had to exhibit their thoughts and creativity.
Dr. Ruchi Sharma and Dr. Ritika Sinha judged the event and declared Sukhali Singh Aulakh (B.Sc III), Riya (BA II), Mehak (M.Voc II), Nandini (B.Voc III) as the first, second, third and consolation prize winners respectively.
Dr. Sumita Sikka was the coordinator of the event. The organizing committee included Priya Malik, Tania Sharma and members of the TrendsModa club.
Dr. Ajay Sharma felicitated the winners and appreciatied the efforts of the club. The event concluded with a happy note.

Students of Fashion Designing department enthusiastically participating in 2 days workshop on 'Fundamentals of Fashion Photography'. 📸💃💯☑️

Fashion Designing Department of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan dharma College, sec-32, Chandigarh organized a two-day art workshop on 30th September and 1st October. It was organized for the skill development of B.Voc FTAD, BA elective and BA addon 1st year students of the department. Around 30 students participated, and the course duration was of four hours. Fevicryl hobby art expert Ms.Shashi Guleria was resource person. Students developed various products such as rangoli, coasters, fridge magnets etc. inspired by traditional art of India. Dr. Sumita Sikka, Head of Department was coordinator of the workshop. Ms. Priya Malik and Ms. Tania Sharma were the organizing secretary. The efforts of the students were highly appreciated by Dr. Madhu Sharma, registrar of the College during her visit to the department. Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal of the College motivated and blessed students for their work.

Department of Fashion Designing, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector-32, Chandigarh has represented the college in the 15th Chandigarh Science Congress (CHASCON 2022) organised by Panjab University, Chandigarh on 17.09.2022. Department presented the outcomes of various subjects of B.Voc Fashion Technology & Apparel Design such as CAD for Pattern making, Grading & Marking software, Surface ornamentation, Costume Draping, Digital Illustration learnt by the students during their course period. The complete effort was to promote B.Voc FTAD, M.Voc FTAD. The visitors were informed about the new education policy used for B.Voc & M.Voc course where their is exit option available and internships are compulsory.
