Panjab University to celebrate National Science Week from February 22-28,2022.
Panjab University, Chandigarh, in association with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh (PSCST), is celebrating ‘Vigyan Sarvatre Pujayte’, the Glorious week, from February 22-28, 2022 which is part of the National initiative taken by Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) and Ministry of Culture (Govt. of India) in association with Vigyan Prasar to rejoice 75th year of Independence, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

𝘿𝙎𝙏 𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙍𝙨 5.78 𝙘𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛. 𝙇𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙨𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙝𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩

Panjab University, Chandigarh's Physics department Prof. Lokesh Kumar has been sanctioned a project of Rs 5.78 crores from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi.

Prof. Lokesh will work for this project in an international collaboration with Solenoidal Tracker At RHIC (STAR) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), USA, and a Large Ion Collider Experiment (ALICE) at European Council for Nuclear Research, Switzerland.

These experiments are related to the study of matter called Quark Gluon Plasma which existed for a few seconds after the big-bang.

Prof. Lokesh is working in the field of Experimental High Energy Physics and has published more than 350 research papers. He has also won the Rahul Basu Memorial Award for best thesis in High-Energy Physics for the period of 2010-2012.
