Long-term complications of diabetes develop gradually. The longer you have diabetes and the less controlled your blood sugar; the higher the risk of complications.

Possible complications include:
1. Kidney damage (nephropathy): Diabetes can damage kidneys. Severe damage can lead to kidney failure or irreversible end-stage kidney disease, which may require dialysis or a kidney transplant.

2. Cardiovascular disease: Diabetes dramatically increases the risk of various cardiovascular problems, including coronary artery disease with chest pain (angina), heart attack and narrowing of arteries (atherosclerosis).

3. Nerve damage (neuropathy): Damage to the nerves related to digestion can cause problems with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation.

4. Eye damage (retinopathy): Diabetes can damage the blood vessels of the retina (diabetic retinopathy), potentially leading to blindness.

What is Gestational Diabetes?

Pregnant women who have never had diabetes before but who have high blood glucose (sugar) levels during pregnancy are said to have gestational diabetes.

Myth: Eating too much sugar causes diabetes.
Fact: Diet does not cause diabetes, although drinking a lot of sugary drinks can increase risk of developing diabetes.

Sugar-sweetened beverages include:
✔ fruit drinks
✔energy drinks
✔sweet tea
✔regular soda

While sugar per se does not cause diabetes, it does contribute to obesity, which is a major cause of diabetes.

SERVES: 1

INGREDIENTS:

For Stuffing:
1. Finely chopped onions, carrot, bell pepper : 3tbsp each
2. Grated Paneer : 4tbsp
3. Crushed roasted almonds : 5no
4. Crushed Garlic : 3 pods
5. Roasted Flaxseed : 1 tsp

For Dough:
1. Multigrain flour : 30gm
2. Olive oil : 1 tsp

For Salsa Dip
1. Tomato : 2 medium sized
2. Onion : 1 tsp
3. Capsicum : 1 tsp
4. Minced green chilli : 1 tsp
5. Salt, Black pepper : as per taste

Method :

For Stuffing:
1. Stir fry the vegetables on high flame in one teaspoon of olive oil for 5-10minutes
2. Add panner, almonds and flaxseed to the above vegetable stuffing
3. Mix well and allow it.

For Momos:
1. Knead the dough by mixing multi-grain flour with water
2. Make small balls and roll it into a small disc and place the stuffing mixture
3. Smear olive oil on the pan and place the momos on the plate and steam it for 15-20 mins
For Salsa Dip
1. Blanch the tomatoes, peel skin and mash them thoroughly
2. Add mashed tomatoes, onion, capsicum and green chilles with a pinch of salt and black pepper and mix well
3. Serve the hot momos with salsa sauce

2. Skimmed milk curd- 30gms
3. 1 cup chopped mixed vegetables(tomato,onion,capsicum and cucumber)
4. Pomegranates- 15gms
5. Chat masala- 1 tsp

FOR GREEN CHUTNEY:
1. Mint leaves: 20gms
2. Coriander leaves: 50gms
3. Salt to taste

METHOD:
1.Mix cornflakes with the chopped vegetables.
2.In a blender blend both the mint and the coriander leaves to make the green chutney, and keep aside.
3.Mix in the green chutney and curd with the chopped vegetables
4.Add chat masala and garnish with pomegranates.
