International Chef’s Day began back in 2004 by esteemed chef Dr. Bill Gallagher, who at the time was the president of WorldChefs, a network of over 100 chef associations and is focused on bringing education, competition, networking, and sustainability to the authority on cuisine. This day is focused on educating all around the world about the importance of eating healthy, promote the career of chefs and help change their local communities.

A little note on Satay!!
Satays originated in Java in Indonesia. They are skewered meat that are marinated & grilled and served with a dipping sauce. Interestingly, the origin of the dish is traced to the Tamizh-speaking Muslim Indians who came to Indonesia for trade around the 14th Century. "Sadhai" in Tamizh means flesh (meat). The Javanese adapted the technique of barbecuing meat on skewers over hot coal and enhanced the flavour of the "kebab" with the addition of locally available ingredients, and soon "satay" became one of the most-sought after street food of the region. Today, the smoky, spicy, tangy and sweet flavours of satay, lure people from all over the world!!
