With headquarters at Coimbatore, Amrita offers MTech courses at our Amritapuri, Coimbatore and Bengaluru Campuses. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has emerged as one of the fastest-growing institutions of higher learning in India. Amrita is a multi-disciplinary, research-intensive, Institution of Eminence accredited by NAAC and ranked the 4th Best Overall University in India by the National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF). In 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Amrita is ranked as the No.1 Private University in India.

Amrita began as a School of Engineering in 1994 in an obscure village, Ettimadai, located at the foothills of Bouluvanpatty Ranges of the Western Ghats in Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu. It was indeed a modest beginning with just 120 students and 13 faculty members. With a vibrant student population of over 20,000 taught by 1700+ strong faculty, Amrita now offers more than 250 UG, PG, and PhD programs in Engineering, Management, Medical & Life Sciences, Arts & Humanities, and Social Sciences. The university is spread across five campuses in three states of India—Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has always given paramount importance to research. The University also operates 60 + state-of-the-art research centres in many emerging and frontier areas in Biotechnology, Cyber-Security, Engineering, Green-Technologies, Humanitarian-Robotics-HCI, Learning-Technologies, Management, Medical-Sciences, Nanoscience, Social-Sciences-Women-Empowerment and Wireless with the support of major national laboratories, industry leaders and agencies like TIFAC, DBT, DST, ICMR, ISRO, DRDO, BARC, Microsoft etc.
