Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, PVSM, AVSM, NM assumed command of the Indian Navy on 30 April 2024 as the 26th Chief of the Naval Staff. He succeeds Admiral R Hari Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC who retires upon superannuation, after an illustrious career in the Indian Navy.
Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, is an alumnus of Sainik School Rewa and National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. He was commissioned on 1st July 1985 into the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy. A Communication and Electronic Warfare specialist, he has served on frontline warships of the Navy as Signal Communication Officer and Electronic Warfare Officer and later as the Executive Officer and Principal Warfare Officer of the Guided Missile Destroyer INS Mumbai Adm Dinesh K Tripathi has undergone courses at Signal School, Kochi, Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Naval Higher Command Course, Karanja and Naval Command College at the United States Naval War College, United States of America.
He was the Vice Chief of Naval Staff, prior taking over the helm as Chief of the Naval Staff on 30 April 2024.

The 5th edition of Joint Military Exercise DHARMA GUARDIAN between the Indian Army and the Japan Ground Self Defence Force commenced today at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan. Scheduled from February 25th to March 8th, 2024, the exercise is an annual event alternately held in India and Japan. Each contingent consists of 40 personnel, with the Japanese contingent represented by troops from the 34th Infantry Regiment and the Indian Army contingent represented by a Battalion from the Rajputana Rifles.

The aim of Exercise DHARMA GUARDIAN is to foster military cooperation and enhance combined capabilities to execute joint operations in semi-urban environments under Chapter VIl of the United Nations Charter. The exercise will focus on physical fitness, joint planning, tactical drills, and basics of special arms skills Tactical drills during the exercise will include establishing a Temporary Operating Base, creating an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Grid, setting up a Mobile Vehicle Check Post, executing Cordon and Search Operations in a hostile village, Heliborne operations, and House Intervention Drills.
Additionally, a Weapon and Equipment Display will showcase India's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and the growing defense industrial capability of the country Lieutenant General TOGASHI Yuichi, Commanding General, Eastern Army, Japan Ground Self Defence Force, is scheduled to visit India on the sidelines of Exercise DHARMA GUARDIAN.
He will witness Combat Shooting demonstrations, Special Heliborne Operations (SHB0), and House Intervention Drills at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges on March 3rd, 2024 Exercise DHARMA GUARDIAN aims to enable both sides to share best practices in Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures of conducting tactical operations, fostering interoperability, bonhomie, and camaraderie between troops of both nations. This exercise will further enhance defense cooperation fostering bilateral relations between India and Japan.

Lieutenant General Kavita Sahai made history as the first female officer to lead the Army Medical Corps Centre and College in Lucknow, a position that has been held exclusively by men since the institution's founding 74 years ago.
Honored with prestigious awards, including the Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal, she officially took on the roles of Commandant of the AMC Centre and College, officer-in-charge of AMC Records, and Colonel Commandant of the AMC on February 1, 2024.

Carries out 2nd Successful AntiPiracy Ops - Rescuing 19 Crew members & Vessel from Somali Pirates. Having thwarted the Piracy attempt on FV Iman, the warship has carried out another successful anti-piracy ops off the East Coast of Somalia, rescuing Fishing Vessel Al Naeemi and her Crew (19 Pakistani Nationals) from 11 Somali Pirates. , post rescuing MV Iman, was again pressed into action to locate & intercept another lranian flagged FV which had been boarded by pirates and her Crew taken hostage.
Responding swiftly to the developing situation Sumitra intercepted the FV on PM 29 Jan 24 & through coercive posturing & effective deployment of her integral helo & boats compelled the safe release of the crew and the vessel. This rescue of hijacked Vessels, through swift, persistent and relentless efforts by Mission Deployed warship in the Southern Arabian Sea approx 850 nm West of Kochi, also prevents misuse of Fishing Vessels as Mother Ships for further acts of Piracy on Merchant Vessels.
