Phase 1: Four month approved pre-sea programme at Siroi Maritime Academy. Phase 1 – Detailed Information
Phase I: Pre-Sea Programme (PSP)
This pre-sea course aims to provide the students with basic entry-level knowledge in the maritime field as well as to prepare the students to serve as a cadet officer on board a merchant ship. This training will be fully delivered by SIROI MARITIME ACADEMY at its premises in Khushalpur, District Dehradun, Uttarakhand. This phase shall include the teaching of the following subjects:
• English Language & Standard Marine Communication Phrases
• General Ship Knowledge and Safety
• Monitor Compliance with Legislative Requirements
• Plan and Conduct a Passage and Determine Position
• Electronic Aids to Navigation
• Safe Working Practices aboard merchant ships
• Seamanship
• Watch-keeping and Collision Regulations
Phase I of this course will include the following STCW courses:
• Personal Survival Techniques
• Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting
• Elementary First Aid & Personal Safety
• Social Responsibility, and
• Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties
Phase II: Shipboard Structured Training Programme
24 months sea service on ships more than 500GT, along with IMETA Approved Distance Learning Programme
Phase 2 – Detailed Information
During this period, the students must complete minimum 24-month sea service as deck cadets (subject to amendments, if any, made by AMSA at any time) on board commercial trading ships of 500GT or more. This sea service of 24 months must include at least 6 months of bridge watch keeping duties in a capacity that fully understudies the officer of the watch. Additionally, the trainees will be required to complete:
a) A preparatory Distance Learning Programme (hereinafter DLP). b) An International Shipping Federation Training Record Book (hereinafter TRB)
c) A record of 6-month bridge watch-keeping understudy of the OOW, as per the AMSA approved format attached to the DLP package
The completion of the above requirements form an integral part of the overall criteria for making the student eligible for the Phase III. Phase3: -Post -Sea Training of 9 months in TAFE Hunter Institute Australia for Officer’s Exams. A 9-month preparatory course conducted in Australia, leading to the students being awarded the Australian Class 3 Deck (Unlimited) CoC, as well as a Diploma certification, after they satisfy all the assessment and any/all relevant criteria for the above. Phase 3 – Detailed Information
Certificate of Competency (Deck Watch-keeper) Programme
After the completion of the requisite shipboard training as well as fulfilment of the sea time requirements, the students shall be enrolled in the CoC3 preparatory course, details as follows:
a) The course shall be conducted at Australia. b) Subject to satisfactorily fulfilling all applicable requirements at the time of their study, students shall obtain Australian Class 3 Deck Watch-keeper (Unlimited) CoC, issued by AMSA. c) Subject to satisfactorily fulfilling all applicable requirements at the time of their study, students may also be awarded an Australian Diploma. d) Students shall have to bear all costs towards tuition fee, return airfare, visa for Australia, boarding and lodging and any/all other charges whatsoever as required during Phase III. e) Each student shall be responsible for the cost of medical and eyesight examinations by practitioners approved by AMSA. f) Nothing in this agreement shall be taken as an implied guarantee by SIROI or IMETA that a student will satisfactorily complete the training programme and obtain a Certificate of Competency or Diploma. g) Students studying through this programme will be required to agree to the standard terms and conditions of study in Australia, including any AMSA and Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship regulations. Importantly, the requirements of this course shall or may be subject to any changes as and when made by AMSA or the Australian Government or Colleges, pursuant to their own or IMO regulations, procedures and standards. A 4-month pre-sea course aimed to provide the students with basic entry-level knowledge in the maritime field as well as to prepare the students to serve as a GPR on board a merchant ship. During this phase, the training programme will be delivered by Siroi Maritime Academy at its premises at Khushalpur, Dehradun. This phase shall include the teaching of the following subjects:

4. Basic Safety Training, comprising of the following four modules:
a. Personal Survival Techniques
