2 CRPF Men Among 3 Injured in Kupwara Road Mishap.

Kupwara, Aug 6 (GNS): At least three persons, which included two CRPF personnel, were hospitalized after a CRPF vehicle had a collision with a sumo cab at Bumhama Kupwara on Saturday evening.

An official told GNS that soon after leaving a petrol pump after refueling a sumo cab bearing registration number JK09-3332 had a collision with a CRPF vehicle near FCI store, resulting in injuries to at least two paramilitary troopers and driver of the sumo cab. The injured trio, the official said, was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Confirming the incident, a police official told GNS that a team was moved to the spot upon intimation. “We are assessing the circumstances which led to the accident”, the official further said. (GNS)

Six drug peddlers arrested, narcotics and cash recovered

Kupwara, July 28:In another major action against drug peddlers, Kupwara Police has arrested six persons involved in peddling of narcotics in two separate cases in the district.
During a routine naka checking yesterday evening at Kaltha crossing in Karnah , a Police team of Police Station Karnah led by its SHO Mudasir Ahmad apprehended three drug peddlers namely Mohd Altaf Khatana son of Kalamdin Khatana resident of Dragger, Majid Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Yousuf Sheikh resident of Tanghdar Nard and Nisaar Ahmad Mughal son of Mohd Sayed Mughal, a resident of Khawarpara Karnah and recovered 70 grams of He**in like narcotics substance from their possession.

During custodial interrogation, accused Altaf Ahmad Khatana confessed of having jointly concealed some more quantity of narcotics as well as cash derived from narcotics sale near his house.

Acting upon the confession of said accused, police party along with Executive Magistrate Ist class Chamkote reached the spot and recovered and seized 350 grams of he**in like substance & cash amounting to ₹73500 from the spot after it’s identification by the accused.

Therefore, a total of 420 grams of He**in like narcotics substance and ₹ 73500 cash has been recovered in the case and further investigations are on. Case FIR No. 53/2022 under sections 8/21, 29 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Karnah in this case of recovery of narcotics and cash.

In another similar action against the drug peddlers, a police team of Police Post Bazar Kupwara led by its Incharge Sameer Ahmad, late in the evening yesterday, during a random naka at Sulkoot Kupwara apprehended three notorious drug peddlers namely Aijaz Ahmad Chechi son of Abdul Majeed Chechi resident of Hafrada, Sheraz Ahmad Khan son of Wali Mohd Khan resident of Manigah and Shahnawaz Khan son of Sarfaraz Khan resident of Manigah Kupwara. On their personal search, He**in like narcotics substance weighing about 34 grams was recovered from their possession. Case FIR No. 192/2022 under sections 8/21, 29 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Kupwara and investigation taken up.

A total of nine arrests of drug peddlers have been made in the last one week in five different cases of Police Stations of Kupwara, Kralpora and Karnah across the district.

Kralpora Police arrested one person with illicit liquor from Marsari shop

Kralpora,July 28: Kralpora Police arrested a man and recovered illicit liquor from his possession.
As per police sources, on specific information a team from Police Station Kralpora led by SHO Inspector Waseem Ahmad, conducted raid in a shop in Marsari and arrested a person along with 26 Bottles of illicit liquor.
The arrested person was identified as Hafiz Bhat S/O Khazir Bhat a resident of Zunreshi Village.
A case under FIR Number 62/2022 under Section 4/5 48 Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Kralpora and investigation started.

*PS Vilgam arrests four drug peddlers, narcotics recovered*

In order to contain the menace of illicit sale of narcotics, Police Station Vilgam arrested four and recovered charas like substance.

On July 26, 2022, a police party of Police Station Vilgam while on naka checking at Champora Crossing, apprehended three persons who had attempted to evade the police party in a suspicious manner. On search, around 80 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession. The persons have been identified as 1. Waseem Ahmad Mochi, S/o Ab Razak, R/o Kralpora Khargund, 2. Mohd Sultan Hajam, S/o Gh Qadir, R/o Sherkoot and 3.Talib Ahmad Sheikh, S/o Farooq Ahmad R/o Amargad. In relation to this, FIR No. 86/2022 under the NDPS Act has been registered at PS Vilgam.

In another instance on the same date, one person was apprehended by a police party of Police Station Vilgam near Dolipora during routine checking. On search, around 70 grams of charas like substance were recovered from his possession. The person has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Mochi, S/o Ab Khaliq, R/o Taratpora. In relation to this, FIR No. 87/2022 under the NDPS Act has been registered at PS Vilgam. Investigation has been initiated and a motorcycle used in the commission of crime has also been seized in the instant case.
