Dental Filling is a treatment modality to restore missing tooth structure which could have been a result of decay or trauma. Decay makes tooth hollow. Dental Filling helps to fill this gap and protect it from further decay. A filling is also used to repair broken or cracked tooth and the teeth which wear off due to dental habits like teeth grinding, nail biting etc..

WHEN DOES ONE NEED DENTAL FILLING?? 🤔
There are various signs and symptoms where fillings can be required. The symptoms could be as below:
1. A hole in your tooth
2. Dark spots on the tooth
3. Food stuck between certain areas of the teeth
4. Chipped or broken tooth
5. Sensitivity to hot and cold food and beverage
6. Single or multiple cavities
If you come across any of the symptoms as mentioned above, then there is a chance that you need a filling. The final decision will be of your dentist after a thorough oral examination.

Reducing COVID-19 In The Dental Office

Will Mouthwash Like Listerine, Scope, or Peridex Kill Coronavirus or Covid-19?

The answer is NO. At this point, there is no evidence that mouthwashes protect you from Coronavirus.

However, it appears from a recent study, that 1% hydrogen peroxide will reduce the salivary load of the coronavirus. The American Dental Association is recommending dentists have patients rinse with 1% hydrogen peroxide for 1 minute before we start any dental procedure on them. It is sold usually as 3% hydrogen peroxide. It can be diluted down by adding water. So for example add 5ml of water to 5ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide and mix to get it to half strength or 1.5%.

Thus at home it's advisable to disinfect your toothbrush with hydrogen peroxide; even soak your mouthguard and retainers in it for 5-10 minutes. You can even rinse your mouth with 1.5% hydrogen peroxide for 60 seconds.

A pre dental procedural mouthrinse would be most useful in cases when rubber dam cannot be used.

Leukoplakia is a precancerous condition of the mouth, the stage before development of cancer. It leads to thick white patches on the gums, inner cheeks, tongue, lower lip and bottom of the mouth. These thick white patches develop slowly and cannot be scraped off.

commonly caused by to***co chewing and smoking or may be due to rough teeth, ill-fitting dentures or dental fillings.

commonly seen in patients who are in the habit of constantly chewing to***co or smoking.

You can examine yourself for these signs:-

• Earliest lesion is a white or grayish faintly translucent discoloration flush with the mucosal surface
• The lesion cannot be scratched or wiped off
• It is uneven in shape, irregular, or flat textured

How do you Diagnose Leukoplakia?

Consult your doctor if you experience any of the above mentioned symptoms. Your dentist will take a complete history of your symptoms and will examine the patches..
