“For me, sustainability is about being aware and grounded to your roots instead of chasing meaningless trends. I believe it is a way of living and not a short-lived trend”

How do you work with Indian handlooms and textiles to ensure circularity in your design process?

“At Paiwand, our process is circular and we reintroduce fashion waste to handloom weavers to make new fabrics out of it. Not even a tiny bit of scrap is wasted at our studio as it is put to use using various handcraft techniques like weaving, hand embroidery and patchwork. We are constantly experimenting and co-creating with our artisans and with the help of their skill and knowledge, we develop contemporary versions of Indian textiles. I feel proud to share that in the last five years, we have upcycled more than 35 thousand kgs of textile waste” shares Ash*ta

“The vision behind Paiwand is to revive traditional Indian crafts and practices by using textile waste as a raw material. Our goal is to replace the virgin fabrics used in production with repurposed textiles and offer a renewed approach to upcycling using Indian crafts” shares Ash*ta
