🦷Dental caries, or tooth decay, is an infectious process involving breakdown of the tooth enamel.

🦷Children are susceptible to caries as soon as the first teeth appear, which usually occurs around age 6 months.

🦷Risk factors include frequent exposure to dietary sugar and refined carbohydrates, inappropriate bottle feeding, low saliva flow rates, developmental defects of enamel, low water fluoride levels, inadequate tooth brushing, lack of parental knowledge regarding oral health etc.

Case of a 4.5 years old Boy with Rampant caries.
C/E- Grossly decayed with 51,61
Root stumps with 52,62
52,62 were decayed till the level of gingiva, but considering the age of child we wanted to give an attempt to save it.
Pulpectomy was performed in all 4 upper incisors, Fibre post was given in 52,62 followed by composite build up.
Lastly Zircon Crowns were given in 51,52,61,62.

2 weeks follow-up of the case shows well adapted crowns and a very happy kiddo.

Full Mouth Rehabilitation in a 3.5 year old boy.
This highly anxious pt was initially planned under general anaesthesia but parents wanted to once try on chair.
In initial appointments he was very uncooperative & required restraining, after few appointments he noticed the small changes in his mouth and he was slowly liking it. Thus further procedures were also completed on the chair itself.

Treatment completed in total 10 visits were ~

Natal teeth is the presence of teeth at the time of birth. They are extra teeth and are not fully developed. Since they are immature they are hypermobile.

Extraction (removal) of the teeth is indicated owing to the risk of aspiration, it can also cause ulcer to the baby's oral cavity and create difficulty to the breast feeding mother.

Case of full mouth rehabilitation in a 2.5 years old kid with Epilepsy.
This Boy had stopped chewing food and was screaming with pain at night, his parents came with a lots of apprehension.
With thoroughly planned treatment the kid was treated on dental chair with his parents restraining along with trained assistance. Medical condition brought few restrictions like avoiding long appointments,but with the course of treatment his behaviour also changed.
Special need dentistry is challenging but very rewarding 🙌

Had an Very productive webinar session with students of Kameshwar International School, Gandhinagar along with there Parents.
Importance of Dental Hygiene,Diet counselling and preventive measures for dental caries in children were the main keynotes of the talk. We also had Question ans session in the end.
Amid the Pandemic the 'Virtual Dental care talk' is an excellent step taken by the school management which we highly appreciate👏👏

Young permanent teeth are more prone to dental caries then teeth that have remained free from dental caries for a few years after eruption.

Preventive procedures like Pit & fissure sealants are very effective in avoiding dental caries in young permanent teeth.

Pt's age is 10 years. Root canal has been performed on 36, which is followed by an interrim SS crown to restore the occlusion.

A badly carious milk tooth(second molar) had caused massive swelling in this 3.5 years old baby girl. Because of highly uncooperative behaviour intra oral pictures were avoided, but the reduction in swelling can be seen in the second visit.
Severe caries can affect children's quality of life and thereby growth, and causes pain and psychological trauma to the young. An early first visit to the Pediatric dentist could arrest the progress of dental caries.
Pulpectomy (Root canal treatment) followed by SS crown,along with flouride application was performed for this case.
