Donating blood is a selfless act and is a cause to feel good about yourself. You are definitely benefiting someone else’s life. But here is a tip - Please don’t think that your responsibility has ended after you have donated blood. There is still some self-care to be adhered to. It is in your own self-interest. Here is what you should do:

You should also call the center if you:

● Continue to feel nauseated, lightheaded or dizzy after resting, eating and drinking.
● Notice a raised bump, continued bleeding or pain at the needle-stick site when you remove the bandage.
● Feel pain or tingling down your arm, into your fingers.
● Become ill with signs and symptoms of a cold or flu, such as fever, headache or sore throat, within four days after your blood donation. Bacterial infections can be transmitted by your blood to another person via transfusion, so it's important to let the blood donor center know if you become ill so that your blood won't be used.

So yeah, although blood donation is a simple and easy thing, it does require a bit of self-control and self-care on our part to be a responsible blood donor. We don’t want to donate blood once in our lifetime, do we?

After donating you sit in an observation area, where you rest and eat a light snack. After 15 minutes, you can leave.
You should also do the following things:

● Keep the bandage on your arm and dry for five hours.
● Drink extra fluids for the next day or two.
● Avoid strenuous physical activity or heavy lifting for the next five hours.
● If you feel lightheaded, lie down with your feet up until the feeling passes.
● If bleeding or bruising occurs under the skin, apply a cold pack to the area periodically during the first 24 hours.
● If your arm is sore, take a pain reliever such as acetaminophen (Tylenol, others). Avoid taking aspirin or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) for the first 24 to 48 hours after donation.

Yes, blood donors need be prepared to donate blood and that means making sure of the following criteria:
● Age should be between 18 and 65 years.
● You should not be suffering or have a history of cancer.
● You should not be suffering from any blood clotting disorder, such as hemophilia.

Dear Sir/ Madam,

As you all must be aware our state has been witnessing an increasing trend of Covid cases over several months. Hence, GMCH blood bank has started convalescent plasma apheresis procedure from people who had been previously affected by Covid-19. We earnestly request you to come forward and donate convalescent plasma which can be used for the benefit of critical patients.

Please note that the following basic criteria need to be fullfilled to be an eligible donor:

Prior diagnosis of Covid - 19 confirmed by a Laboratory test

Male and female donors both are eligible to donate. But female donors should never have been pregnant.

For the treatment of COVID 19, the plasma therapy has been given a specific amount of importance. The patients previously diagnosed with COVID 19 and who have recovered as well as completed 28 days span are requested to donate plasma in GMCH, Blood Bank, Guwahati.

(৫)ৰক্তদাতা সকলৰ ভ্ৰমণ সম্বন্ধীয়,চৰ্দি-জ্বৰ,কাহ বা আনুসাঙ্গিক কথাবোৰ সোধ-পোচ কৰা হব।
(৬)ৰক্তদাতা সকলে নিজৰ সম্পুৰ্ণ ঠিকনা আৰু মোবাইল নম্বৰ দিয়াটো বাধ্যতামূলক।
