World Blood Donor Day, 14 June 2023

The campaign's tagline for the June 14th, 2023, World Blood Donor Day is "Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often."
It emphasizes the important role that:

• Every person may play by contributing the priceless gift of blood or plasma and focusing on people who require lifelong transfusion support,
• How crucial it is to routinely donate blood or plasma to build a safe and sustainable supply of blood and blood products that can always be made available, anywhere in the globe to ensure that all patients in need may receive prompt care.

Blood donation is a painless and straightforward process that only takes 15 minutes.

Healthy individuals between the ages of 16 to 60 can donate blood in blood donation camps.

The amount of blood donated per session is limited to 350 millilitres.

Blood donation not only benefits the recipients but also has positive effects on the donors themselves. It reduces the risk of heart disease and helps rejuvenate the donor's body.

One blood donation can save the lives up to three people. Donate blood and save lives..

For the first six months of a baby's life, nursing exclusively is sufficient. Breastfeeding alone is no longer sufficient for a child's healthy growth and development after six months.
Supplemental feeding must begin soon after the infant has reached the age of six months. Furthermore, about 5 months, the biting movement of the jaw appears.
Solid foods are swallowed around the age of 6-7 months. The tongue's side-to-side movement develops between the ages of 8 and 12 months. The best timing or "sensitive period" for the initiation of supplemental feeding is around 6 months.
If complementary feeding is delayed, the child may enter a "critical period" during which the infant may always be a poor chewer and may subsequently have difficulty consuming solids.
Other benefits of supplementary feeding at 6 months include:
• The child developing neck/head control and hand-to-mouth coordination.
• The child begins to love mouthing and biting;
• The intestines are developed and equipped to process cereals and pulses.
• Due to gum hardening and tooth emergence, the baby enjoys chewing and gumming semisolids.
• Reduced propensity to force solids out of the mouth

"International kangaroo care awareness day"

The significance of Kangaroo care cannot be overlooked and it is high time that it should be included as a part of the birthing process. The fact that both parents can engage equally is one of the nicest aspects of this approach. Skin-to-skin contact, also known as kangaroo care, is a particular method for parents to bond with their newborn and is something they will always cherish.

Babies are placed upright directly on their parents' bare chests while wearing only diapers. A blanket will then be placed on top when the baby's head is tilted to the side.

Evidence-based health benefits for mother and baby interacting skin to skin are numerous. For instance, kangaroo care promotes quicker weight gain in preterm infants. Other advantages for the infant include:
• Regulating body temperature and heart rate.
• Enhancing oxygen saturation levels and breathing patterns.
• Enhancing sleep habits.
• Lowers stress and decreases sobbing.
• Increases breastfeeding's success rate.
• May enhance breast milk production and raise breastfeeding success rates.

“World Asthma day”
The day's goal is to promote awareness of asthma, a noncommunicable disease affecting children and adults. It is the most prevalent chronic disease among children.
This year's World Asthma Day theme is "Asthma Care for All," which advocates for greater accessibility and availability of high-quality medical care to reduce the disproportionate number of deaths and hospitalizations caused by asthma in low and middle-income countries due to limited access to asthma care.

The day's goal is to promote awareness of asthma, a noncommunicable disease affecting children and adults. It is the most prevalent chronic disease among children.
Asthma is the most frequent chronic disease among children and is a major noncommunicable disease (NCD) that affects both children and adults.
Asthma symptoms are caused by inflammation and narrowing of the tiny airways in the lungs, which can include any combination of coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness.
Asthma symptoms can be controlled with inhaled medication, allowing patients with asthma to live a normal, active life.

When we talk about autism, we're talking about a wide range of conditions marked by difficulties with speech, nonverbal communication, social skills, and repetitive behaviour.
World Autism Awareness Day 2023's subject this year is "Transforming the Narrative: Contributions at Home, at Work, in the Arts, and in Policymaking," which is an appeal to raise awareness of autism and encourage acceptance and support of autistic persons in society and the workplace. By emphasizing acceptance, support, and inclusion of autistic individuals while also fighting for their rights, we are shifting away from the narrative that argues for treating or converting autistic persons.
By ensuring that there are autistic-friendly policies at work and in the arts, awareness of autism also facilitates quicker action.
The parents of young babies and toddlers should be aware of some of the common symptoms and take note of a few basic patterns for early diagnostics:
• A child avoids eye contact, does not show facial expressions,
• Does not wave goodbye,
• Does not share interests with others,
• or cannot point to show a parent something interesting.
All of these could be indicators of autism and should be investigated. A professional diagnosis can be made reliably by two years of age, so we would advise any parents with concerns to seek support as soon as possible.

“WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY” on 21st March 2023 to promote awareness and correct interventions. It is an opportunity to promote societal awareness of the challenges that people with Down syndrome experience on a daily basis.
The theme for this year is "With Us Not For Us," which is really appropriate and advances away from the outdated concept of disability and forward with how everyone has a right to education, healthcare, work, social inclusion, and so on, as well as to live a decent human existence.
A human rights-based approach regards individuals with disabilities as having the right to be treated equally and to have the same chances as everyone else, as well as to collaborate with others to improve their life.

The theme for World Oral Health Day 2023 is 'Be Proud of Your Mouth.'
Maintaining your children's teeth healthy can help them maintain clean and healthy teeth and gums and create good oral hygiene practices they will need for the rest of their lives.
It is critical that children develop proper oral hygiene habits at a young age. Teaching a child the importance of caring for his or her teeth and gums from an early age can help establish a healthy smile that will last a lifetime. But, even before the first tooth appears, parents should be actively involved in their child's oral hygiene.

The goal of India's annual National Vaccination Day, which is celebrated on March 16th, is to raise awareness of the value of vaccinations for human health. In 1995 the day was first celebrated with the launching Pulse Polio Immunisation program to fight polio in India. The objective is to emphasize the value of vaccinations in the fight against deadly illnesses and attempt to inform people about the critical role that immunization plays in public health.
Even though India has made incredible strides in recent years in routinely immunizing kids through vaccination efforts, nonetheless, ongoing awareness campaigns are crucial to bringing this issue's importance and knowledge to even the most isolated areas of India because the bulk of serious illnesses can only be avoided via effective and timely vaccination.

In an effort to reduce the prevalence and effects of renal illness, “World Kidney Day” aims to raise awareness of the significance of kidney health.

An estimated one in ten people worldwide suffer from renal disease, so kidney health is crucial. The theme for 2023 World kidney day is:

"Kidney Health for Everyone - Preparing for the Unexpected, Supporting the Vulnerable"

We need to remember:
Kidney disorders can be silent killers. There are no symptoms or indicators of early chronic renal disease.
To test for kidney disease, blood, and urine samples are collected.
The disease of the kidneys is treatable. A more effective course of treatment is more likely with an earlier diagnosis of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Most cases of the chronic renal disease do not improve.
A major risk factor for chronic kidney disease includes diabetes, as well as high blood pressure (CKD).
Kidney failure can develop as a result of kidney disease.

Obesity is currently one of the most serious public health challenges of the twenty-first century, with rates rising fastest in low- and middle-income countries.
Obesity is rising very rapidly among children. According to the International Obesity Federation's Obesity Atlas 2023, India will see a 5.2 percent increase in adult obesity and a 9.1 percent increase in child obesity by 2035.
The theme for World Obesity Day 2023 is "Changing Perspectives: Let's Speak About Obesity," and it aims to establish a platform for dispelling myths and misunderstandings about obesity.
Obesity is a disease and it is time to consider the same as one!!
World Obesity Day urges people to seek medical care and shifts the public debate away from individual blame. These acts aid in the prevention and treatment of obesity.

International Childhood Cancer Day is marked to increase awareness of the disease and offer support for the families of those children who have cancer. This is also a day to honor all the kids whose lives were taken by cancer.
In the year 2021, a three-year campaign was initiated under the theme of ‘Better Survival’ is achievable
The campaign is a component of the attempt to meet the WHO Global Childhood Cancer Initiative's objective goal of at least 60% of children diagnosed with cancer worldwide surviving by 2030. Organizations and people join forces on this day to raise awareness of the value of early detection. One of the best strategies to lower the death rate from childhood cancer is early diagnosis.

December 1, 2022, World AIDS Day
PAEDIATRIC AIDS
As per UNICEF children and adolescents made up only 7% of all HIV-positive individuals, yet in 2021 they were responsible for 17% of all AIDS-related fatalities and 21% of new HIV infections.
The theme for year 2022 is “Equalize”: The equalize access to end Aids to all is one of the most significant aspects. Ending AIDS in children and adolescents will remain a distant goal until the causes of inequity are tackled.
Over the past three years, HIV prevention and treatment for children, adolescents, and pregnant women has almost stagnated, and many regions are still not at pre-COVID-19 service coverage.
The rising disparity in treatment between adults and children needs to be acknowledged. Children who fall through the cracks must be found, tested for, and given therapy that could save their lives.
Every day that passes without improvement, the struggle against AIDS claims the lives of more than 300 children and teenagers.

How to take care of the umbilical cord after birth

The umbilical cord is the connection between the baby and the mother when the baby is in the womb. It is needed for supplying nutrients to the baby.

After birth, the cord is clamped and cut. What is left is a stump which is a flexible, tube-like structure with a spongy appearance. The colour and the look of the stump change from yellowish green to black and crusty as it dries up and then falls off within 1-3 weeks of birth.

The World Arthritis Day theme for 2022 is "It's in your hands, take action," urging people all around the world to band together for this cause and make this celebration beneficial for those who lack support.
Rheumatic and musculoskeletal illnesses, or RMDs for short, exist and have an impact on people all over the world. WAD seeks to increase awareness of these issues among all audiences. Arthritis and Rheumatism International (ARI) founded WAD in 1996. RMDs—of which there are more than 200—have crippling consequences that are rarely understood, but their impacts are felt widely and subtly.
The campaign's slogan, "It's in your hands, take action," aims to motivate people with arthritis, their families, caregivers , and the general public to seize every chance to enhance their quality of life.

The theme for this year is "Use Heart, For Every Heart."

It emphasizes "FOR" and changes the campaign's emphasis from the activities themselves to the people who will benefit from it, making the urge more powerful for each heart.
The day is observed by organizing various activities and awareness events around the world to increase awareness about heart disease and its preventive strategies for cardiovascular disease management.
The activities primarily aim to educate people about the signs and symptoms of cardiovascular disease in order to avoid future difficulties, as well as to encourage individuals to adopt a healthy lifestyle in order to prevent and control any heart-related disorders.

National Nutrition Week
The theme for year 2022 is ‘Celebrate a World of Flavours’

National Nutrition Week is celebrated to increase public awareness of the value of nutrition for human health and the need for prompt, effective action malnutrition.

Adequate nutrition, a crucial pillar of anyone's health, is particularly important for women because poor nutrition wreaks havoc not only on women's own health but also on the health of their children.

In comparison to dietary supplements, which "may be helpful in some cases, notably if you are breastfeeding, pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or otherwise at risk for a particular nutritional deficit," getting these vital elements from food is preferable.

World Breastfeeding Week: 1 to 7 August,
The theme for the year 2022 is “Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support”
World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year from 1 to 7 August all over the globe to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of new-borns around the world.
Breastfeeding is one of the most effective, basic, and simple ways to ensure a child's health and safety. Despite the critical importance of exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months, the rate of breastfeeding has not improved, and two out of every three children are not exclusively breastfed during the first six months.
Infants who have been breastfed for six months have a very low or no chance of developing ear infections, respiratory problems, or diarrhea. Breastfed babies have a lower risk of developing asthma or allergies.
According to the WHO, breastfeeding benefits both children and mothers. It lowers the risk of breast and ovarian cancer in mothers.

Every year on July 28th, the world comes together under a single theme to raise awareness of the global burden of viral hepatitis and to influence real change.
