Calling you all progressive ones who are ready to contemplate, innovate, and make a change! Stick around for more updates.

We present our first committee at Global Thinkers’ Conclave 3.0 - Prison Reforms & Criminal Justice System
Prison reforms are central to the discourse on universal human rights. Incarceration is the most potent instrument of the criminal justice system. It has detrimental effects on families and communities of the prisoners, impedes social integration in society, and acts as a huge economic burden on communities and nation-states. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the forefront the question of detrimental health conditions and fundamental rights of prisoners.
This committee will aim to look at the question of prison reforms from a human rights and socio-economic perspective. High rates of incarceration, lack of access to judicial mechanisms, the proliferation of under-trails, discriminatory sentencing, and bail procedures are tied to the practices and legal directives issued by the justice system. The delegates will explore solutions to these problems and the possibilities of alternatives to prison systems and certain criminal justice procedures.
