The Bhaskara Association, Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, SGT University, Gurugram under the aegis of Alumni Association (AASGTU) started a lecture series on Data Science & Machine Learning. The very first lecture entitled “Mastering Data Science: Introduction & Application” has been conducted on 29 th May 2023 from 11:00 AM onwards. The event was attended by more than 50 participants including UG/PG students, research scholars and faculty members from various the Departments of Faculty of Science. Mr. Rajat Kumar, Data Scientist, Genpact, Gurugram (Alumni, Department of Mathematics, FOSC) along his teammate Ms. Annapurna Verma was the expert for this event. Prof. (Dr.) Lakhwinder Singh, Dean, Faculty of Science, addressed the attendees and encouraged them to participate enthusiastically in the very first session of the lecture series. Thereafter, Prof. (Dr.) Lakhwinder Singh, Dean, Faculty of Science, Dr. Pradeep Malik, Head, Department of Mathematics and Dr. Vineeta Saini, Alumni Coordinator, Alumni Association SGTU presented the welcome sapling to the speakers. In the starting of th session, Mr. Rajat began the talk by discussing data science and its significance in today's world. Furthermore, He explained the data science workflow: problem formulation, data collection and pre-processing, exploratory data analysis, modelling, evaluation, and deployment. At the end, the experts responded well to the queries raised by the audience and the session provided attendees with a wealth of knowledge along with perspectives. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mahvish Ali and presenting a SGTU memento as a token of respect to Mr. Rajat Kumar and his teammate.
