In Sanskrit, โ€œMakaraโ€ means crocodile๐ŸŠ Unlike Savasana, Makarasana is considered as the only relaxation pose in which it is not possible to fall asleep due to the upright position of the neck and the head.

In this pose, one lies down on the tummy face down, spreading the legs out as much as possible and bringing the hands folded at the elbows and placed below the forehead for support.

Uttana Shishosana or the puppy pose resembles a puppy taking an intense stretch forward with its entire body.
Though in this pose, the stretch is intense with the body on all fours, yet the body feels relaxed and is considered a posture to relax the muscles after an intense practice of other poses related to the shoulders and the back.
