How to Save your Teeth from Complete Decay with Root Canal Treatment?

Today’s case report is about a patient who had a video consultation with us.

Karan was extremely worried about his dental health. He told us he has visited many dentist regarding his upper left teeth i.e premolar and molar but everyone had suggested him to get them removed and get ​ to replace them as they are infected, and pus is draining out but he wanted to save them.

We suggested him to visit us at our dental Clinic (Esthetica international Clinique) in Gurgaon as we wanted to check him clinically .
On taking radiographs of the concerned teeth we told him that prognosis is not very good but we can try to save them.
we would have gone for the Tooth extraction followed by a dental implant as well like other dentists he visited and that was the easy way out .

We did ​ of the molar and premolar instead in order to save the teeth.
we placed Metapex and waited 3 weeks. Periapical pathology almost healed in 3 weeks. As premolar was badly damaged, we did custom made post and core. A porcelain fused metal ​ were placed on those teeth.

This Video shows few pictures of the x-rays over the three weeks time period along with preoperative and postoperative picture and patient’s review.

Saving a tooth should be the utmost priority of every dentist and that can only be achieved by doing the correct and thorough diagnosis.

Patient reported in our dental clinic from Gohana (Haryana) in a panicked state.

Dentist who had done her previous treatment told her that she needs to get all her teeth removed as they are decayed under the dental crown.
She also advised her to get full mouth rehabilitation done with Dental Implants.

Patient was very reluctant for dental implants.
She told us that her previous dental implant on upper left side failed during the lockdown. She had a very difficult time as nobody was available.

On a thorough examination and investigations ( CBCT), We concluded that she was not an ideal candidate for dental implants. So we decided to go for alternate options.
After removing the present crowns and bridges we saved her teeth with root canal treatment followed by glass fiber post and cores.
Zirconia crowns were placed to restore the function.
Few of her badly damaged teeth were removed and were replaced by flexible removable partial dentures in the lower arch and removable partial denture in the upper arch.

This whole experience not only boosted her confidence in us but she also left with happy smile.

She was not interested in going through extensive treatment. She also informed us that the space was not there earlier and is increasing day by day.
After a through check-up a diagnosis was made.
She had tongue thrusting habit which was the cause for flaring of the upper and lower teeth.
After diagnosis next step was the treatment plan.
But major challenge in her treatment plan was her tongue thrusting habit.
We delivered the anti tongue thrusting appliance, with her cooperation we corrected the habit.
The next challenge was diastema closure, She didn't wanted to go for ​ or clear aligners. So we went forward with ​.
And they turned out to be good .

Laminates are thin layer of porcelain which are placed over the teeth with minimal preparation.
