Feelings are what count and make all the difference.
And when it’s 50 Million of those, guess it’s celebrations galore.
The Quintessence Studio is thrilled to have been a part of the Vistara celebrations via the work created for one of their events celebrating this milestone.
A simple idea turned around to create a place for everyone to express and share their feelings and experiences.
Focussing on sustainability, we incorporated discarded material in the design.
Dear team ,
We are grateful for your trust in us. Working together with you all to come up with concepts which focus on environment n sustainability has been a great experience.
Kudos to your efforts 🙌🏼

Getting back into the groove !
Nothing lifts up spirits better than a play of colours and fluid strokes.
And the sunflowers help too 😃
Celebrating summer 🔆
At the workshop post a gallery walk, we were to create work with references from the museum’s collection.
My humble composition was an amalgamation of references from 03 stalwarts - Jamini Roy, Raja Ravi Varma and SH Raza.
Jamini Roy’s work has my heart and it was an obvious choice to incorporate it in my work.
Also I find Raja Ravi Varma’s depiction of the women very beautiful, and one of his famous work ‘A Woman holding a Fruit’, has always caught my attention.
I chose to focus on the woman’s hand holding the fruit.
And there comes the twist.
The fruit was replaced by a haldi-kumkum ‘Bindi’ inspired by SH Raza’s Bindu.
The references to nature - the feminine energy, the hand which nurtures, cares and supports and the Bindi/u symbolising the world - all of these come together as a tribute to the woman who carries the ‘world’ with ease.
It was a great experience to paint live along with other artists. Thanks for the opportunity
It was a day well spent at the workshop organised by The National Gallery of Modern Art, Ministry of Culture for women artists. Honoring the contribution of women in diverse fields, the week long celebrations marking the International Womens Day had a line up of various art offerings.
Happy to have been a part of it :)
And goes without saying, it’s always a joy to visit the gallery 😍
Hello there hoomans….
Guess who’s turned 3 today !!!
❤️❤️❤️
Some visuals never leave you.
On one of our holiday, quite a few years back, my daughter was trying to grab shafts of sun-rays which filtered through the trees.
A memory I cherish.
As I sat in front of my blank canvas, I was drawn towards capturing that memory.
And here it is …
Titled by my young lady as “Training Your Dragon”.
Guess she sees the dragon from Train Your Dragon in this 😃
As for the young dude, he sees a tornado.
Pretty apt titles both.
May you have the courage and strength to train and tame the challenges which come your way.

Introductions.
Sometimes exciting and looked forward to. Sometimes leaving one with butterflies in the tummy.
They herald beginning of new associations, opportunities and growth.
This work is my introduction to learning about a new theme (I’ve never painted a prayer wheel earlier) and style.
Would love to know what you think of it.

Do not fear the dark.
That’s where you’ll find the answers.
It all began with a lil game - I spy with my eyes … a play of finding some meaning in the random.
Turning around the colour splattered canvas till I could see a form emerge.
Voila ! Equine 😍
And as for the rest… it’s all here 🙃
A very content and grateful start to the year.

Every day is a new beginning.
Embracing all that comes my way, with gratitude 💕
Happy New Day. Happy New Year !
Stay blessed, lovely people 💕
Musings while creating this work :
Gather all that comes your way
Turn it around
And then some more
Look close
Look inwards
There’s always a way
Give it your best
Answers will find you
ALWAYS ❤️

One which had been in the making for long !
This painting’s journey involves lots of changes - beginning as one which was a play with texture.
Then it evolved with addition of a few abstract elements.
Eventually came one of my favourite themes - equine / horses !
And then, it felt complete 😊

In Ayurvedic medicine, moonlight is believed to help heal and soothe the body. It gently energises and relieves anxiety and stress.
Commissioned by a corporate client, this painting for a ‘wellness room’ in the office is a close alternative to experiencing the calm from the energy of the moon.
The ‘inky’ moon has a soft look which eases the viewer into focussing and observing its various contours and thereby relax.
Thank you sir for the opportunity to work on this beauty.

Absolutely thrilled to share our work which will always hold a special place in our hearts.
The joy of seeing the idea take shape and turn out just the way we had imagined it is incredible.
Thank you team for the opportunity and for trusting us with this project.
We admire the various initiatives taken by the organisation for bringing about a positive change in the world for a better tomorrow.
More power to Vistara Nurtures CSR !
As one of the focus areas for CSR is environment and sustainability, the logo model was created using waste material - water bottles used onboard flights, old inflight magazines, reclaimed wood and more.
We are humbled by the appreciation and love coming our way for our work.
Immense gratitude

Goodbyes are hard. Especially so when you send off the work you created to it’s destination.
But it’s happiness too :)
There he walks… pulling forward a curtain of colour brightening up everything he comes across.
Getting the red to be just right was challenging but the little boy encouraged me along and, voila !
Thank you sir for the opportunity.

Always a delight to see the work reach its destiny and destination :)
This one will always remain memorable, for various reasons.
An unusual one being bruised palms 😅 !
With the amount of blending done for the backdrop, I gave up on the tools and resorted to working with bare hands (I often tend to do that). End result made it worth every bit !

With the paint and the weave, this one was an absolute delight to work on.

Mountains calling !
Finally got down to a landscape oil study.
Painting wet on wet, the various greens seemed to have a mind of their own initially.
But hey, I finally befriended them 😃

Portraits. Oil studies.
Freedom is many things.
For me, as an artist, it is the choice one has, to opt to create without conformity.
For art is thoughts and emotions of the creator at a given point in time. It is ‘free’ to keep evolving, changing.
Going with the flow, challenging and surpassing limits, to create what one desires.
I am free.
Happy Independence Day !
Today’s artwork is ‘freedom’.
You are free to interpret it the way you like :)
Do share your thoughts. I’d love to know what you think of it.

Crowd.
People ? Or maybe, thoughts…
Another work which inspired me to write a few lines for it :
उस भीड़ से बीने थे कुछ ख़्याल,
समेट के रखें हैं।
बूझती हूँ कब मिलाऊँ तुमसे,
जाने कब पन्ने पे उतरने हैं।
Loosely translated -
I sifted and picked out a few thoughts from that crowd. I’ve kept them safe.
Wondering when I’ll share them with you, wonder when I’ll put them on paper.

I’ve been wanting to attempt a version of Monet’s Lily Pond.
As also, to present the horse in a traditional Indian folk art theme.
As I worked around the concepts, I figured that the two seemed to fit well.
And thus was created the

I’m happy with the way the experiment turned out 😅

“Sometime I think you believe in me more than I do”, said the boy.
“You’ll catch up”, said the horse.

Often people ask me why do I continue to paint horses.
The above excerpt from the awesome book explains it so beautifully.

“From the lows to the highs,
And the dark to the light;
Treading through life,
I’ve won every fight.”
Some subjects are such that they prompt me to pen a few lines for the created artwork. This is one of them.
Trying to capture the beauty of the life lived, the tales hidden and told, the whispers and the laughter.
The underpainting technique used in this artwork helps bring out the richness of the colours and helps understand the tonal values.
A great experience.
Learning never stops. sir, thank you for encouraging me through this one.

Still life study work.
Moving to a subject which is not my usual go-to, I realised that the change helps to realign and gain clarity.
I thoroughly enjoyed working on this one. Getting to know the brush strokes, the medium, and above all building up the patience levels 😅, it was quite an experience.

This work is from earlier this year.
I wanted to experiment a bit with colours and used some for the horse. I was happy with the result 😃

The one where I sat down to sketch a couple of gorgeous leaves I found during my walk in the hills.
But….
It turned out to be another Equine inspired sketch 🤪
Maybe, it was to be.
The hand made paper journal from was the perfect partner 😃
The monk … I had been wanting to paint one for some time now and earlier this year I finally did it ! (Sharing a little late though 😊)
The work here was created around the concept that all it takes is an innocent idea / a lil dream to create something of consequence.
This work is my interpretation of a photograph which caught my interest and became the reference. Thank you for sharing the photograph and guidance sir.
I would really appreciate if someone can share the name of the photographer so proper credits can be given for the reference picture 🙏🏼

Can you spot a story here 😃
Going back to the equine theme, I decided to play with silhouette and texture.
Had oodles of fun creating the texture, adding some details with charcoal and then painting over with limited palette.

Chaos can also lead to humility.
The knowledge of what one is capable of and what one can achieve can be very humbling.
So, embrace that chaos.
You’ll be surprised at what you end up with.
Believe. And it shall be.
Love and peace ✨

The chaos leads to resolve.
That’s what this work is for me.
Don’t walk away from the challenges cos they really do help us raise the bar a notch higher.
A quote I read long back says “Not all storms come to disrupt. Some come to clear the path.”
And so I believe :)
Sending love and light to all 💕✨
