SOCIAL MEDIA Series

#2 WHAT

There are many platforms which come under Social Media:
• Facebook
• Instagram
• Twitter
• Blogs
• Website
• Etc

Out of all these we will focus on the most popular: Facebook and Instagram.

I will not be teaching you how to START these but on how to simplify and get the most out of your presence on these platforms.

a. WHAT should you post

What you post sets you apart from your competitors. You want to be known as an expert in your niche so people actively seek you out. But how do you do that?

1. FIND YOUR NICHE, your area of expertise. What are you extremely good at? Out of all the things you know what are you passionate about? What is your speciality which has people craving for more? If you know TEN things, become an expert in ONE. Research on the topic. PRACTICE. Now write about that. Your passion will show in your posts.

Eg. Arati Mirji focuses only on making Flowers. She doesn’t make cakes or breads or figurines. OR Anna Austin specialises in Figurines. She does not post her cakes. OR Valerie and Christina are today known as the Buttercream Queens. They don’t post cream cakes.

Does it mean they don’t make the other stuff? Perhaps they do. Do we know any of them personally? No. We know them by the posts they publish on their Facebook and Instagram accounts. And because the passion for their craft shines through we perceive them as Experts in their fields.

Find YOUR passion, your expertise. Research. Know it inside out. This gives you a chance to STAND OUT.

2. STORYTELLING. Start writing about your niche/expertise. On your own page. On your blog if you have one. On your Instagram account. Join other Facebook groups which cater to either your niche or your prospective client. Answer questions there. Take part in debates on the topic. Answer queries on your baker groups. Post short insights of your own. People should realise that you know your stuff.

Customers LIKE going to the expert. If there are many chocolatiers or bakers in a particular area would you go to just anyone or would you actively LOOK FOR THE EXPERT? And HOW would they find the expert? By word-of-mouth or by looking in the Social Media.

So to sum up:
• Find your niche.
• Be perceived as the expert in that niche

INCREASE your VISIBILITY on Social media. But first, WHAT IS THE NEED to stay visible?

You must have heard the quote “Out of sight and out of mind”. Well it is correct to a large extent. While your best customers will not forget you there will always be some who might.

This are unprecedented times. No one is really sure how to go forward. Everyone is scared of buying food from outside. With all the ugly rumours floating around people are looking towards HOME BAKERS and HOME CHOCOLATIERS to cater to their sweet cravings and for their celebrations.

But how do all these potential customers come to know about you and what you serve? You cannot move out of the house and distribute pamphlets. SOCIAL MEDIA to the rescue! At present you have a tremendous opportunity to increase your visibility and find a wider set of admirers and customers. Every one is glued to their phones and laptops. Its like you have a Captive Audience!

FSSAI has launched Food Safety Compliance System in the States/UTs of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Gujarat, Goa, Odisha, Manipur, Delhi, Chandigarh and Ladakh with effect from 01st June 2020. This system replaces the existing online Food Licensing and Registration System (FLRS: https://foodlicensing.fssai.gov.in external link). Users of these States/UTs are now required to visit https://foscos.fssai.gov.in external link and login through same user IDs and passwords.

MARKETING & SELLING. Both words are used for getting something of use to the client or consumer.
