In the realm of social work, the values of transparency, equality, grassroots outreach, effective implementation skills, and sound policy are paramount. Several years ago, I embarked on my journey in social work, and it's a journey that emerged from humble beginnings.

I hailed from a modest middle-class family in Haryana, a region known for its traditional Khap Panchayats, deeply ingrained gender disparities, women's rights issues, and the unfortunate practice of female child abortion. As an engineering graduate, I initially had little exposure to the development field. However, my passion for driving change and my unwavering commitment to addressing societal issues led me to step into uncharted territory.

My focus turned towards the often-overlooked yet critical issue of Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) and the need for open discussions about menstruation. This endeavor was met with considerable resistance, particularly within my own family and the conservative society I grew up in.

The challenges I faced were immense, with opposition from various quarters. In the initial stages of my journey, it seemed as though no one was willing to lend their support. Yet, driven by an unshakeable self-motivation and equipped with a determination to learn, I donned my risk-taking cap and embarked on a mission to prove the skeptics wrong.

In the face of adversity, I persevered. Through diligent learning, grassroots outreach, and an unyielding commitment to the cause, I began to break down barriers and dispel myths surrounding menstrual hygiene. Over time, I not only gained support from the community but also witnessed tangible improvements in the lives of the women and girls I was working with.

My journey in social work is a testament to the power of resilience, determination, and the unwavering belief in the importance of transparency, equality, grassroots engagement, and effective policy implementation in effecting meaningful change. It underscores the significance of pushing boundaries and challenging societal norms for the betterment of our communities.

The Green Pencil Foundation is deeply committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), with a primary focus on three key pillars: Sustainable Mobility, Public Transport, and Women's Health.

1. Sustainable Mobility: The foundation places a strong emphasis on promoting sustainable modes of transportation. This includes advocating for eco-friendly transportation options such as cycling, walking, and electric vehicles. Their efforts extend to fostering awareness about reducing carbon emissions and traffic congestion, ultimately contributing to cleaner and more efficient urban mobility.

2. Public Transport: Green Pencil Foundation recognizes the pivotal role of public transport systems in creating sustainable cities and communities. Their work involves supporting initiatives that enhance public transportation infrastructure, accessibility, and affordability. By doing so, they aim to reduce individual car usage, minimize environmental impact, and improve overall urban livability.

3. Women's Health: Gender equity and women's well-being are central to the foundation's mission. They focus on empowering women by addressing crucial health issues specific to them. This includes initiatives related to maternal health, reproductive rights, access to healthcare services, and education on women's health matters. Through their work, the foundation aims to foster healthier and more equitable societies.

By championing these critical areas, the Green Pencil Foundation plays a pivotal role in advancing the global agenda for sustainable development, aligning with the UN SDGs and making a tangible impact on the well-being of communities and the planet.

Green Pencil Foundation Successfully Organised the Youth 20 Summit Under the Umbrella of G20.

"The recent earthquake in Morocoo is yet another stark reminder of the series of natural events occurring in both the Asian and European regions. These occurrences serve as significant warnings to humanity. If we persist in our disruptive interactions with nature, altering landscapes through deforestation and mountainous developments, we are inevitably setting the stage for nature's retaliation.

This reckoning will come at the expense of our lives, and we can no longer afford to disregard it. The earthquakes in Turkey, the floods in India, and the recent floods in China all stand as compelling examples of the frequency and severity of these disasters. It is crucial for everyone to understand the underlying causes and the alarming regularity with which these catastrophes are unfolding."

The G20 Summit 2023, scheduled to convene in New Delhi from September 9 to 10, 2023, is a significant global event poised to address critical policy matters aimed at achieving sustainable global economic growth. Under the overarching theme of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," which translates to "One Earth. One Family," this summit holds paramount importance in an era characterized by pressing challenges such as inflation, climate change, and territorial conflicts.

In today's world, marked by escalating inflation rates and ongoing territorial disputes, it becomes increasingly evident that the borders that separate nations are inconsequential in the face of shared global concerns. The theme, "One Earth. One Family," serves as a poignant reminder that regardless of our diverse religious beliefs, castes, languages, and nationalities, we are, indeed, part of a larger human family inhabiting a single planet.

Amidst these trying times, it is imperative that we unite as one global community to address the urgent crises that confront us. Paramount among these is the crisis of climate change. The devastating impacts of global warming are being felt across the world, with rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and disruptions to ecosystems. The G20 Summit 2023 presents an unparalleled opportunity for nations to collaborate and commit to substantive actions to combat climate change. A concerted effort on this front is essential not just for the well-being of current generations but also for the prosperity and survival of generations to come.

Additionally, the issue of global food security looms large on the agenda. With a growing global population, ensuring access to nutritious food for all is a formidable challenge. The summit provides a forum for leaders to discuss and implement strategies to ensure adequate food production and distribution, alleviating hunger and promoting sustainable agriculture.
The G20 Summit 2023 in New Delhi is a critical juncture for the global community to come together, transcending differences and divisions.

The message is impactful, emphasizing that humans often only take things seriously when they directly affect them. Clean air is essential for all of us, yet some perceive it as either an individual or governmental responsibility. It's a fact that humans can't survive without clean air, a freely available resource. In contrast, while a car might not be a necessity, its use incurs both personal expenses and contributes to air quality degradation due to exhaust emissions.

Recent events in Manipur have highlighted the harsh reality of our society, government, and country. For decades, India has been a male-dominated society, but women have been making significant contributions to every sector of the country. The Manipur incident has stripped away the hope we had for progress. It is time for us to take a hard look at ourselves and our society and work towards a better future for all. Let's come together to make sure that every member of our society is treated with respect and dignity.
