Tall Sunflower and The Secret

The bright yellow with brown centre has always stood out for me whenever I see a Sunflower. Its large head, yellow petals encircling the head evenly and densely almost like the thick bushy lion’s mane, erect stem and broad, oval leaves arranged alternately make it a flower worth admiring.

But one thing that fascinates me is its height. The sunflowers grow upto 10 ft. In fact the tallest one, that has its name in the record books, is 30 ft tall. At the growth stage it bends towards the direction of the sun but once it has blossomed it stands tall and erect exuding its vibrant shiny brilliance.

The secret of such heights lies in its roots. The roots grow 3 to 5 ft deep. As long as the root tip can pe*****te the soil, it continues growing downward. Sunflowers also are drought-tolerant because they can withstand many weeks without water. The ability to withstand drought depends on the health of its root.

Roots also serve to anchor it in the ground making it difficult to pull up by the roots. The endurance, elegance, balance, brilliance..all emanate from the strength, depth and health of the roots below the surface.

Our strength to stand tall and correct lies in the depth and health of our roots in the soil of rationality, integrity and courage.

Smoothie: Tasty and Healthy (Surprising!)

The banana looked fresh and tempting. But I decided to ignore its presence. I wanted to have something healthy for and research said that there are healthier options available. I was aiming for the rare: Taste and Health together.

So I picked up an apple to keep the doctor away for the day. It was juicy and sweet. I rinsed it, removed its skin and chopped it into pieces. The creativity lied in blending the apple with some more fruits that enhanced the overall taste without digressing from the healthy track.

Strawberries were my next pick. Though slightly sour, it cuts apple's extra sweetness and keeps the taste intact. I threw in a few blueberries as well and poured in some almond milk into the blender and blended the mixture.

A quick taste made me realize that while the base was ready, the overall dish wasn’t. What was missing was the crunch. So I cut some crunchy walnuts and almonds and sprinkled fresh muesli on top. To decorate the whole dish, pieces of Kiwi were arranged on the side of the bowl and Wallah! The dish was deliciously ready: Tasty and Healthy!

Clear knowledge of the outcome with the right combination of the correct ingredients is the recipe of a great dish…and the recipe of a great marketing campaign.
