Homophones are like word twins that sound the same but have different meanings and spellings. Here's a fun fact about homophones: The pair "new" and "knew" is an interesting example because not only do these two words sound exactly alike, but their meanings are also connected by the concept of time. "New" refers to something that has recently come into existence or is recent, while "knew" is the past tense of "know," implying awareness in the past. It's a neat example of how homophones can be both phonetically identical and semantically linked through our experiences of learning and encountering new things.

COLLINS LEARNING INDIA
Collins is an imprint of HarperCollins UK, part of News Corporation.
The journey started around 200 years ago. William Collins’ dream of ‘knowledge for all’ began with the publication of his first book in 1819. A self-educated mill-worker, he founded a flourishing publishing house in Glasgow and went on to enrich the lives of millions through his publishing.
The Collins brand and its heritage are two of the most valuable assets to HarperCollins Publishers because they are known throughout the world for providing accessible, authoritative and informative content in print and digital format.
The Collins brand encompasses an extensive range of Education resources for Primary, Secondary, and ELT (English Language Teaching), as well as market-leading dictionaries, atlases and revision guides. We are widely recognised and highly regarded by teachers, parents and students.
Collins was launched in India in 2013 to make quality education accessible to all. Collins strives to empower educators and students by providing:
Everything teachers need to teach today - Collins’ books contain just the right amount of content for classes. We know that it can be difficult for teachers to find time to cover all of the content in the book, so we provide just what they to help them make the most of the time they have with their students.
Books that are fully supported - We ensure teachers receive all the support they expect, such as lesson plans, extra worksheets and additional activities in both print and digitally, as well as workshops to help with professional development in a range of ways (such as time management and classroom management). We also provide separate support to help teachers enable parents to understand how they can help their children with their school work.
Books that are clean and clear for students to use -We understand that layout and design can significantly contribute to effective learning, so we want our books to be distinctive in look and feel. We will take special care to ensure that our books are visually accessible and engaging for the student and the best teaching and learning tools possible.
We’d love to hear what you think. Talk to us; you can be sure that we will listen. Send us your thoughts and feedback at [email protected]
