Meet the innovative minds from WRO Season 2023 Regionals!
Team "Marine Movers"๐
Tejas Sanap, joined by Pranay Rushi and Satyam Prajapati, mentored by their coach Sahil Singh Diwan are excited to present their project "Seabin":
๐ The Problem:
They discovered that our oceans are plagued with plastic waste. India alone generates around 2.26 million tonnes of plastic waste, much of which ends up in the ocean, causing severe environmental damage.
๐ฅ๏ธ The Solution:
To combat this pressing issue, they developed Seabin, a boat model designed to clean plastic waste from the ocean surface. The Seabin features two-sided boats connected by a net suspended between them.
Here's how it works:
- The boats are powered by batteries and motors controlled by an RC controller.
- As the boats move forward, the net skims the ocean surface, collecting plastic waste.
- The net uses floaters on top and weights at the bottom to stay open and effective.
๐ฟ Sustainable Impact:
Once the garbage is collected, it is transported to shore for recycling. Non-recyclable waste is repurposed for other uses, such as making roads with plastic. This innovative approach not only cleans our oceans but also promotes sustainable waste management.
Together, we can make a significant impact on our environment. ๐๐
