गुवाहाटी में पांडु नगरी का नाम महाभारत काल के दौरान के महाराज पांडु के नाम पर रखा गया हैं। महाराज पांडु पांचो पांडव के पिता थे। यह स्थान शहर के टीला हिल्स में पांडुनाथ मंदिर के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हैं। पांच पांडवो का नेतृत्व करते हुए पांच गणेश मूर्ती यहा मिलती हैं। माना जाता हैं कि निर्वासन के समय पांचो भाइयों ने गणेश के रूप में यहा शरण ली थी।
