Chicken 65', one of the most popular dishes among non-vegetarians originating from Tamil Nadu's Chennai, has been ranked among top 10 fried chicken dishes in the world by "TasteAtlas".

Chicken 65 is basically deep-fried chicken pieces marinated in a blend of spices including chili powder, turmeric, salt, pepper, cumin powder and garam masala. The kashmiri chili powder lends the dish its bright red color, while a hint of turmeric adds an additional layer of color.

The etymology of the name "Chicken 65" has sparked various theories. Some believe it was created in 1965 by the culinary genius AM Buhari in Tamil Nadu. Others suggest that the number 65 refers to the use of 65 chili peppers in the dish or that the meat comes from 65-day-old chickens.
