Assam down town University in collaboration with JBF (JBF (Just Be Friendly)) and Rotary Club of Guwahati to conduct a successful animal welfare camp on May 3rd, 2024.

The camp provided vital checkups for livestock from over 50 households in Satargaon with utmost support of the dedicated team of veterinarians from JBF. This initiative was made possible through a DST-funded Science and Technology Innovation Hub (STIH) project of Assam down town University.

The India Skills Competition 2024 (State Level Competition) organized by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), India and Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM). We are delighted to announce that Dr. Suman Kumar Samanta, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Science, has been honored as the faculty of the month.

Dr. Samanta's remarkable achievement for March 2024 includes the publication of a research article titled “Finding the ajoene sweet-spot: structure-activity relations that govern its blood stability and cancer cytotoxicity” in the journal ChemMedChem, having an Impact Factor of 3.4. This accomplishment highlights his dedication to advancing scientific knowledge, also his commitment to excellence in research and academia.

Assamese wildlife conservationist Dr. Purnima Devi Barman is the recipient of the prestigious Whitley Gold Award 2024 for her persistent efforts to protect the larger adjutant stork (Hargila) and its wetland habitat. Her leadership in Aaranyak and the founding of the Hargila Army serve as prime examples of the effectiveness of community-based efforts in biodiversity preservation. Her influence is felt all across the world, encouraging the next generation of conservationists and promoting the preservation of the natural environment.
