A Study Centre Management Committees meeting was held yesterday at Madhab Deb University. Centre-in Charges and Coordinators of KKHSOU Study Centers from Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Biswanath Districts attended the program and chalked out the strategies for new admission to be started from 1 July, 2024.

Centre-in Charges and Coordinators of KKHSOU Study Centres from Tinsukia, Dibrugarh and Sivsagar Districts attended the program and chalked out the strategies for new admission to be started from 1 July, 2024.

This is to inform all learners that no fees are required to be paid at study centers or exam centers for any examination. All fees are included in the payments made online to the university.

A Study Centre Management Committee meeting was held today at G.C. College, Silchar, to discuss various issues related to the management of KKHSOU study centres and to explore promotional activities for new admissions starting from July 1, 2024. The Honorable VC of the University, Prof. R.P. Das, Dr. Bibhas Deb, Principal of G.C. College, officials from the Dean's Study Centre office, and Principals and Coordinators of Barak Valley study centres were present at the meeting.

KKHSOU observes World Press Freedom Day

The Bhupen Hazarika School of Mass Communication, Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University celebrated World Press Freedom Day on 3rd May, 2024 by organizing a special lecture that was delivered by Dr. Arup Kumar Misra, Chairman, Pollution Control Board, Assam. In tune with the theme for this year’s World Press Freedom Day, Dr. Misra spoke on ‘Safeguarding the Environment : Role of the Fourth Estate”. He said that the climate and biodiversity crisis not only affects the environment and ecosystems but also the lives of billions of people around the world. He was of the opinion that media had a profound role to play in highlighting such issues and in raising awareness about climate change. In his speech, the speaker focused on the importance of safeguarding the environment and in providing every person with opportunities to acquire knowledge, values, attitudes, commitment and skills. He also said that environmental awareness aims at fostering clear awareness of and concern about economic, social, cultural, political, ecological and interdependence in urban and rural areas. Dr. Misra spoke on the importance of using media for environmental advocacy. It was also mentioned that the advantage of media in improving individual environmental knowledge lies in its ability to provide the audience with up-to-date environmental knowledge. He deliberated on an emerging area of journalism, i.e. environmental journalism which deals with the collection, verification, production, distribution and exhibition of information regarding current events, trends, issues and people associated with the non-human world. He specifically spoke about Rachel Carson, a renowned marine biologist and writer and her work ‘Silent Spring’ which brought environmentalism to the forefront. He concluded by stressing on the vital role that media can play in informing people, promoting environmental issues, changing human behaviour and bringing about positive changes in the society.

An intensive discussion was held today for joint program development at the Director's chamber of NIRDPR, Guwahati between the representatives of KKHSOU & NIRDPR to explore the possibilities of introducing certificate/diploma programs on rural management and rural entrepreneurship. Prof. R. P. Das, VC, KKHSOU and Dr. R. Murugesan, Director, NIRDPR and official and faculty members of both institutes participated in the discussion. A novel initiative on moving for fulfilling the needs of our rural youth of the state.

A Faculty Development Program on 'Achieving Excellence in Developing Online Programs & MOOCs: Strategies and Best Practices' was held today at the KKHSOU City Campus, Guwahati. Prof. Uma Kanjilal, Pro-Vice Chancellor & Head of Department, LIS, IGNOU, served as the Resource Person for the FDP. The program was organized by the Centre for Online Education in collaboration with the University's MOOCs Promotion Committee.
