It is heartening to know that Scn. Sushobhan Verma, (2013 Ranoji/ Jankoji) has achieved the title of “IRONMAN” at the world’s toughest one-day sporting event, the North American IRONMAN Triathlon Championships in Texas, USA on 27th April 2024. In the full Triathlon, he pulled off this spectacular feat with phenomenal grit and made his place amongst a handful of Indian athletes to have achieved this distinction in his maiden attempt.

The full IRONMAN triathlon format contains of three integrated events; swimming for 3.8 Kms, cycling for 180.2 kms and a marathon run for 42.2 kms, all of which must be accomplished within 17 hours at a single stretch; which he accomplished in less than 14.5 hours - perhaps a first for any Scindian too !

SOBA is extremely proud of Sushobhan, a third generation Scindian, grandson of Mr Devendra Narain Verma, creator of the School Song, and son of Scn. Sunit Verma (1981 Ravindra) and congratulates him for his achievement.

While at school he took a keen interest in music, and was an avid sportsman. He is an MS from Duke University, North Carolina, and presently a Project Manager at Apple Inc., based in Austin, USA.

Dear Scindians,

Scn. Hisam Khan (1977 Ranoji) has a requirement of at least 08 blood donors everyday, at Gangaram Hospital, Delhi.

The numbers are still slow so we need to get together and donate blood urgently. We therefore urge all Scindian brothers & sisters from Delhi & NCR to take time out to donate blood for a Scindian brother.

The way forward is that we call and let the family know the date and time one is going so that the waiting time etc. can be minimised.

Also please note that the Blood Bank is in the main building of the Hospital.

The 25th day of November in the year One Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty-Nine (1959) was when it all started. On this day SCINDIA SCHOOL OLD BOYS' ASSOCATION was registered under the United States of Gwalior, Indore & Malwa ( Madhya Bharat) Societies Registration Act of 1950. The Mantle of running the organisation was carried by many illustrious Scindians over the years under the leadership of the Principal Scindia School. As the value of networking was recognised in an increasingly globalised world HH Madhavrao Scindia with his futuristic vision, launched SOBA of the new millennium through our website on 21Oct 2000.

The Department of Post has come up with the release of a Commemorative Postage Stamp on this occasion. The Stamp was released by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, along with other dignitaries on this occasion. Release of a postal stamp for any institution is an honour for any institution and your alma mater is one of such few institutions in the country.

As part of our ongoing SOBiR (Scindia Old Boys in Residence) program, a dynamic posture correction session was held on 17th August 2023 for the teachers of the Scindia School by Mr. Sandeep Agrawal, ex- Shivaji, a distinguished alumnus from the batch of 1980, in MCR 1.
During the session, Mr. Agrawal shed light on the profound impact of incorrect postures in our day-to-day lives. Not only do they take a toll on our spine and health, but they also influence our overall personality. Through engaging demonstrations, he shared simple yet effective exercises and proper postures that hold the key to transformative change.
Some valuable insights shared include:
• Ditching the habit of keeping the wallet in the back pocket.
• Not to drink water while standing.
• Embracing the art of sitting with a straight spine for maximum well-being.
• Taking breaks to avoid prolonged sitting and nurturing an active lifestyle

SOBA Bangalore Meet

SOBA Bangalore members met at Bangalore Club on Saturday, 15 July 2023.

Members present included Scindians from SKV, and The Scindia School, along with their spouses. It was also attended by Central Soba Treasurer, Scn. Sandeep Agrawal from Nagpur, and Kanpur Soba President, Scn. Vineet Awasthi.

The meeting started with formal hand-over of the Soba Cup, which was awarded to Bangalore Chapter in the last Founder’s Day. All the members present enthusiastically received the cup.

The members present also sang the school song, Rishi Gaalav ki Tapasthali, in unison.

Scn. Sandeep Agrawal presented some facts about the 125-year celebration, and requested all Scindians to register for this mega event. Scn. Vineet Awasthi, Member of the Registration committee for the 125-year celebration, also gave out some data regarding the event, and reached out to every Scindian to register soon as the preparations were to be made for the event.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to all present. Along with a special thanks to Scn. Vineet Awasthi for physically carrying the Soba Cup all the way from Kanpur.
