What is the Ultimate Goal of Yoga Sadhana? - Yoga is a way of living, it is a physical asana practice, a therapy and it can be many more things for different people. Goal of yoga differs for each one of us.
Don't feed your suffering ... Only feed your dreams. Feed the thoughts that give you power.
Slept late... Woke up early and very sleepy... All i wanted to do was sit and sip tea. But i decided to stay disciplined on a day lacking in motivation.
Rushed out to the gym and made myself proud for having started the day right.
Followed an upper body workout with yoga stretches and pranayama.
How was your day? R u all set for tomorrow?
Sleep is often not given its due importance. The competitiveness of the world and our never ending to do list tend to make us ignore our sleep.
Sleep is important to be efficient in whatever we may be doing. Only when you are well rested can you
- perform well at work
- workout to your best capability
- make right food choices.
When we sleep our body goes into recovery mode. But for that it is also important that you sleep well... That you have a deep relaxing sleep. Watch out for my next post where I will speak on how to sleep better, from my personal experiences.
There are good days and bad days... You fall a hundred times... You fail a hundred times...
But as long as you are alive
Every single time...
Shake up and set the restart button! Do not quit.... No matter what!
Every day is a fresh start... So do not wait for a new week a be month or the new year to start afresh or maybe just start.
Today is hen you bring the change.... Yesterday no longer matters and today will design tomorrow.
So don't keep your mat waiting... Step onto it for whatever minimum commitment you can make.

Do you relish your workout or is it a tick that you need to make on your to do list?
Unless the workouts become a part of who you are a part of your essentials... You would always look for ways to skip for reasons why you had rather not do it.
How can you make your workout more inclusive....
1. Keep flexibility for different days as per mood ( of course watch out because mind tends to pull you to things that take least effort.)
2. If you miss out someday be kind to yourself.
3. While you are at it... No matter how long or how intense you workout, enjoy every minute of it.
End of day no matter what form of workout you do... It is all incomplete unless your mind is calm.
Anything that does not touch your mind... That does not bring peace is futile.
Maybe in olden days this was not so relevant... Most of the physical emotional or mental issues arise out of stress. If only we could be calmer and more peaceful we would avert so many health concerns.
Whatever be your health goals... Do ensure peace of mind is top of the list because trust me unless you are stress free you wouldn't be able to tick any other goals that you may have.
Don't look for the easy way out... Look for the challenge... Because when you challenge yourself you bring the change...
And when you feel what was challenging at one point of time is getting easier...
Then my friend it is time to seek another challenge.
The idea of yogic diet... Not just what we feed our body/stomach....
But also what we feed our mind and soul π

We want things to change in our life... We want to get healthier, stronger, emotianlly balanced
But you know for those changes to happen we have to change something first. Until we change things nothing would change around us.
Some might be small changes and others could be bigger ones with respect to our lifestyle.
We want to wake up early... We got to sleep in time... We want peace of mind... We ought to sit with our eyes closed and meditate... We want healthier bodies we have to make the effort... To move them to make it to our yoga mat or the gym every single day.
You start changing if you want to see the change. As simple as that π
Yoga works on mind, body and soul is something we often hear.
But do you know how to transcend from the body to the mind and soul?
Don't roll up your mat after your asanas. Keep some time at the end for 5 mins of silence. Of course you may meditate any other time in the day as well... But meditating right after your asana practice will take you much deeper. It will make it so much easier to silence your mind.
And this is something you can practice after any activity. Whether you go for a run or workout in the gym. Once you cool down and are done with stretching, spend a few minutes in silence. This is something I have personally experienced. The happy hormones that your workout released makes your meditation so much more easier and deeper.
This will be especially good for beginner meditators who find it so difficult to sit still. After your practice the body is silenced and its easy to sit still. And the stillness very effortlessly transcends to the mind as well giving you a soulful experience.
Do try this and share how was your experience.
We focus a lot on the body... Yoga, fitness, skin care, good food. But do u know nourishing the soul is equally important. When your soul is satiated it reflects in all facets of your life. It would reflect on your health, your relationships and your performance at work.
One of the most beautiful way to nourish the soul is to be in the nature. Whether it be sea, riverside, mountains, a park, whatever accessible to you. Watch the sunrise or the sunset. Connecting to nature is extremely powerful in satiating our soul.
Do think about it. And do plan something each day and maybe a longer one on the weekend. Paint, dance, daydream, cook... Do whatever that feeds ur soul ππ
Yoga is magic!
Have you experienced the magic? Have you felt the same way?
If your answer is no, perhaps you have not given it sufficient time to grow on you to infuse into your life and your being.
Yoga is a sadhna... a daily practice.
The word sadhna has a deeper meaning... It entails so much more than just a practice. Its sacred and that is exactly how you need to come to your yoga routine.
Consistency is important. Show up on your mat every day for whatever time feels comfortable to you. Someday you might be able to practice for an hour and other days it just might be 15 minutes.
For something to touch your body mind and soul in one go... It must be magic! And magic happens with faith and surrender.
So did you practice today? Or what is your plan for tomorrow π
Meditate on yourself as motionless awareness, free from any duality. Give up the mistaken idea that you are this body - or that you are anything external or internal.
This cutie follows me all around the house from room to room... And if I do not stick to one room and keep moving around the house.... He sits in the centre of the house and keeps an eye on me π

Have undying faith in yourself... Because others will only have faith in you when you have it π

I am going to curl with a beautiful book. Of course I miss the north Indian winter and the cuddling in a quilt... But on the other side I absolutely love the spring like winter in Chennai π

Rain and the rainbow... Sea sun sand... All that can make a Sunday perfect....
But the point is does the absence of any of those make the Sunday any less perfect.
We fail often to recognize that the source of love and happiness are within us.... And if we go back to that source every day very moment we would be happy.
Well literally that isn't possible either because life has its series of ups and downs.... But yes when we connect to that source we are more balanced in how we approach every up and down. π
Myra loves water... She could spend a lot of time in a tub... When she was small... It was my favorite way to steal some
Rain was another favourite of her but mama would not be so brave to let her go out in every rain
Just think what a sea would mean to her... So much water... She has been to sea before... But she was young and doesn't remember much... It is almost after 3 years she experienced it again...
It was so good to so her go crazy.... There is so much our children teach us... For one to enjoy the wonders of the world... Without inhibitions...
Joy is in the little things in life... And if you don't find it there it may keep eluding you.
For me joy is making meals for my family that they enjoy.... Adding all my love as the main ingredient. I am not a great chef my food is simple but it gives me immense joy when my family enjoys a meal cooked by me.
We also talk of self love. Equally important is doing things for your loved ones and even more satisfying is to do an act of kindness for a complete stranger... For someone who is not going to return the favor.
Self love is essential but in case it is not helping... you might be missing out on acts of love, kindness and compassion for others. So try thinking of small simple ways you can bring happiness to someone else.... You will find it comes back to you 2x

How do u connect with nature?
For me a walk on my terrace or my evening walk and just looking at the sky... Looking at the play of clouds... Gazing at the moon and the night sky... Early morning outdoors are some of the ways I connect to nature.
Connecting to nature is so grounding. It gives such a wonderful calm. When I look at the simple marvels of nature I cannot help but feel excited like a child... Wondering how does this magic happen every time and everyday...
And that also is a reminder that the happiness... Is in simple things... In simplicity.
Pause breathe and connect... Embrace the simplicity of your life ππ
There is so much more to listening then just the words....
Especially when it comes to our loved ones. Wouldn't we want to know what is the cause behind their silence?
There is so much each of us carry within...
π make time to connect with your family each day
π be compassionate... It is not easy for all of us but comes with practice.. Perhaps start with yourself.
π put all devices away when u give time to someone..
π step out of your own reverie of work and thoughts and listen to the ones you love

A beautiful time to sit and meditate under the moon. To let the silver moonlight in your being... Feel the bliss in every cell of your body
The energies of the moon are magnificent... Just a few minutes of meditation and you would know what I mean....
Do not miss it.... If you have already switched on the TV for the night and settled on the couch... Step out and experience the magic ππππππππππππππ
Sometimes it is not easy to let go of the past... But remember the direction you want to head towards... And even if you want to... You cannot move backwards.
Looking behind serves no purpose π
So do not be in the past... Do not keep looking at what happened
Learn the lessons and move on
And so it is for the relationships that you have... If you keep thinking of what someone did to you a day a month or a year ago... You cannot take that relationship to a beautiful future.
So look ahead
Define your future how you had like it to be.... And live the present... In fact present is the only place you can live in π
The promises lie in the future and for that we have to make efforts in the present.
Our thoughts in the present help us do our best.
Be in the present and look ahead... Right where you want to go π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦
Because when you love yourself and are high on self esteem... You become the best version of you
And in turn you would also give the best of you to others...
You would be more compassionate...
And also when someone does not treat you right... You would love yourself enough to take a stand...
