In continuation of our Forum’s efforts in reaching out to Policy Makers for timely intervention to address multiple crisis experienced by industrialists especially from MSME sector, due to Covid 19 Lockdown, today we had video conference meeting with Shri Pralhad Ji Joshi, honorable union cabinet minister, Government of India. Minister was courteous to give his valuable time from busy schedule and actively involved in understanding challenges faced by industrialists. Dr Vijay Sankeshwar, Mr. M V Karmari, Dr Ch VSV Prasad, Mr. Sheshgiri Kulkarni, Mr. Santosh Huralikoppi, Mr. Gautam Ostwal, Mr. Vivek Nayak, Mr. Ramesh Patil, Mr. Prashant Bellad, Mr. Nagaraj Yeligar, Mr. Praveen Agadi, Mr. Suresh Babu, Mr. Raju Patil and others participated in the meeting. Further to memorandums already submitted, Industrialists expressed their concerns, challenges and apprehensions due Lockdown, and requested for central government’s urgent intervention to resolve the problems. Members participated in meaningful discussion and were successful to conveying the message across. Honorable minister explained Government’s efforts in handling extraordinary situation, acknowledged support extended from people including industrialists and priorities in front of the Government. He was focused in listening and responded positively, saying, he will take up our requests with concerned ministries immediately. He also said, all matters concerning MSME sector are already being discussed and hopefully we should be hearing favorable news soon.

Deadly Covid 19 virus spread and all India Lockdown has disrupted normal life. Economy is badly affected, and industries are staring at loss, layoff, permanent closure and bankruptcy. Businesses were already reeling under pressure due to multiple shocks in previous years like, demonetization, GST, BS6, prolonged sluggishness in market and consumption, etc. Now this pandemic has led entire world market to worst recession of recent times.

Under such circumstances, it is imperative for Hubballi Dharwad Development Forum (HDDF) to draw attention of policy makers and propose stimulus remedies. When contacted, our honourable Minister for Industries, Govt of Karanataka, Shri Jagadish Shettar was kind to give us patient hearing and agreed to meet HDDF members on Friday, 17th April 2020.

Our Chairman Dr Vijay Sankeshwar welcomed honourable minister and members and spoke briefly to set the context. After Memorandum was read by Secretary Shri Jagadish Hiremath and submitted to Shri Jagadish Shettar, he responded positively to consider our recommendations and explained Government efforts so far. He gave patient hearing to the challenges faced by MSME sector and assured to take up the issues in upcoming cabinet meeting. Vice Chairman Mr M V Karmari gave vote of thanks. Treasurer Dr Ch VSV Prasad, Vice Chairman Shri H N Nandkumar, Shri Govind Joshi, Shri Sheshgiri Kulkarni, Shri Vivek Nayak, Shri Mahendra Thakkar, Shri Nagaraj Divate and Shri Sanjay Kotabagi were present.

A high level meeting of HDDF members was convened on 16th December to discuss issues related to overall development of Hubballi Dharwad.

HDDF team submitted recommendations to Honorable Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries - Government of Karnataka - Shri Jagadish Shettar, to include in the upcoming Industrial Policy for Karnataka, for development of Hubballi Dharwad economically to attract more industries.

A delegation from HDDF recently visited Gujarat to study the smart cities - Dholera and GIFT City to give recommendations to the State Government to develop Hubballi Dharwad city and the surroundings on the same lines of modern civic and industrial amenities.
