Have you ever observed that your dog yawns when you pet or snuggle them?
Dogs yawn for a variety of reasons, but yawning while receiving cuddles is a bit surprising. It's often a combination of physical, emotional, and communicative factors. Let's find out:

1. Your dog is excited.
2. Youโ€™ve yawned, so they yawn back.
3. Yawning excessively with frequent burping and whimpering indicates that they might be in pain.
4. They might be uncomfortable.
5. If you scold them and go ahead to Cuddle them, they might get confused and give you a 'confusion yawn' with a little bit of head tilt in return.
6. They might be fatigued and want to switch to resting mode.
7. They love how relaxing and calming cuddles can be.

If you notice your pet yawning in an odd way, consult a vet online on Vets On Cloud.

Asthma in dogs is caused by an allergic reaction that affects the airways. The small airways (known as Bronchi) in the lungs, become inflamed and begin to fill with mucus resulting in constriction and spasming of the lung's small airways.

It has mainly been observed in middle-aged and young dogs. Smaller dogs are more likely than larger dogs to be diagnosed with this disease.

If your dog exhibits any of these symptoms, contact your vet immediately.

Do you also wonder why most of the Dog toys are made in blue and yellow?
We assume that because dogs are colourblind, they can only see black, white, and variants of grey, but they can see variations of blue and yellow.

They have dichromatic vision and are less sensitive to red and green colours. Because of this reason toy manufactures, try to produce toys in those colours.

Ratan Tata took to Instagram to offer a message about the need to protect stray animals during the monsoon season. The industrialist advised people to look beneath their cars for stray animals looking for refuge during the storms. Not only that, but he also asked individuals to provide a temporary home for stray cats and dogs.

In his post he wrote- "Now that the monsoons are here, a lot of stray cats and dogs take shelter under our cars. It is important to check under our car before we turn it on and accelerate to avoid injuries to stray animals taking shelter. They can be seriously injured, handicapped and even killed if we are unaware of their presence under our vehicles. It would be heartwarming if we could all offer them temporary shelter when it is pouring this season."

A senior dog Wilbur, in California, was saved from euthanasia and has gone on to live his best life after beating cancer. Moved by the dog's situation, the family looked beyond age and health issues and opened their hearts and home to give the canine a second chance at life.
Wilbur and his new family had only 60 days to weigh up so he could have surgery. Within a month the pup got healthy enough for surgery. He received the necessary medical treatment and Wilbur made it through.
He's now cancer free and the New family gave him a new name 'Cooper' for a fresh start.

Very cold water can disturb dog's sensitive digestive systems. It can cause discomfort and bloating.

Chewing on ice or drinking very cold water can injure a dog's teeth, especially if they have a history of dental problems.

Dogs maintain their body temperature by panting and restricting sweating. Consuming extremely cold water can produce a fast drop in body temperature, increasing the likelihood of shock-like reactions.

Drinking excessive amounts of cold water increases the risk, potentially leading to a life-threatening condition.

In order to keep your dog hydrated, give them fresh cool (not icy) water.

Is your Cat Lactose Intolerant? Look out for these signs:

Diarrhea: It is one of the most common symptoms of lactose intolerance in cats. If your cat has recently ingested milk and has loose stool, this could indicate that it cannot digest the lactose.

Vomiting: A cat may vomit after ingesting milk in some situations, especially if they have ingested a large amount of milk. This is just another indicator of lactose intolerance.

Bloating: Lactose-intolerant cats may experience bloating, which can be uncomfortable and make them appear swollen.

Excessive gas or flatulence is another indicator that your cat is unable to digest milk effectively. This could be due to undigested lactose fermenting in the digestive tract.

Lethargy: Cats with lactose intolerance may appear lethargic or ill, as the digestive disruption that results from the lactose can leave them fatigued or uncomfortable.

It is important to note that, while these symptoms may indicate lactose intolerance, they may also indicate other digestive disorders. If you suspect your cat is lactose intolerant, check with a veterinarian.

Dogs, as we all know, have an incredible sense of smell that is up to 100,000 times stronger than humans. They interact with other dogs and explore their environment using their nose. Dogs can detect a wide range of scents that humans are unable to, thanks to their extraordinary sense of smell. Here are a few examples of strange items that can only be detected by dogs and that humans may not be able to smell.

Love Petting a Dog? Here are a few things you need to know-

Approach the dog carefully and calmly: Do not hurry towards the dog or make quick movements that may surprise it. Approach them gently and softly, and let the dog sniff your hand if they want.

Avoid petting the dog's head: Many dogs find being petted on the head scary or intimidating. Pet them on the chest, back, or sides of the neck instead.

Use a soft touch: Because dogs have sensitive skin, use a gentle touch when petting them. Avoid putting too much pressure on sensitive places like the tummy.

Take note of the dog's body language: Stop petting them if they start to pull away, lick their lips, or appear uncomfortable.

If the dog isn't yours, always ask the owner's permission before petting it.

Respect the dog's personal space: If they look uneasy or hesitant to interact with you, don't force them to.

Avoid approaching dogs from behind: Approaching dogs from behind can startle them and cause them to respond defensively. Approach dogs from the front so they can see you coming.

Remember that every dog is unique, so while touching them, keep their preferences and personalities in mind.

Heat stroke is a severe condition that can occur in dogs when they are exposed to high temperatures or indulge in excessive activity in hot and humid weather. It is a medical emergency that demands quick veterinarian attention.

If you feel your dog is suffering from heat stroke, you should act quickly to cool them down and get them to a veterinarian. Take them to a cool, shaded area and wet them down with cool (not cold) water. Also use a fan or AC to keep them cool, and give them fresh water to drink.

It is important to keep in mind that certain dog breeds, such as brachycephalic (short-nosed) varieties like bulldogs and pugs, are more prone to heat stroke. Moreover, older canines and those with underlying medical issues may be at greater risk.

Heat stroke in dogs is best avoided by prevention. During hot weather, keep your dog indoors or in a cool, shaded area, provide lots of fresh water, and limit exercising during the hottest portions of the day. Never leave your dog in a parked car for more than a few minutes, since temperatures can quickly rise to deadly levels.

Tardar Sauce, aka Grumpy Cat, was a renowned internet celebrity cat known for her persistently grumpy facial expression. She was born in April 2012 and quickly became a social media star when her images were first put online in September of that year. Her uncommon appearance was due to an underbite and feline dwarfism.

A variety of products, including clothes, mugs, and plush toys, have been made with Grumpy Cat's face. She even appeared on numerous TV shows and was the focus of a documentary.

Grumpy Cat, who was seven years old at the time, died on May 14, 2019, after complications from a urinary tract infection. Her memory, however, lives on, and her images are still used in memes and other internet content.

Human and dog eyes are anatomically and functionally quite similar. But dogs have certain benefits that allow them to see better at night.
Some of the anatomical characteristics that allow them to see in the dark better than humans are:
1. They have more rods in their retina, which allows them to perform better in low light

2. Pupils that are larger and allow more light into the eye

3. A lens that is closer to the retina, resulting in a brighter image

4. The tapetum lucidum, which reflects light and so improves night vision

Remember that even with these advantages, dogs still need light to see since it stimulates the photoreceptor cells.

Many dogs enjoy sneezing when they play with other dogs or humans. Dogs will also sneeze during play to demonstrate that their actions are purely playful. Sometimes dogs "fake sneeze" to seek attention or show that they want to play.

Dogs can sneeze occasionally due to pollen from seasonal pet allergies, just like humans do.

Sneezing is beneficial for dogs but also, it could be a sign of a minor health issue like a cold.

Dogs communicate through body language or facial expressions, sneezes are simply one way of doing so.

Due to the shape of their throat and snout, brachycephalic breeds have more trouble breathing. Certain breeds, such as Pugs, Pekingese, Bulldogs, and Boston Terriers, have constricted nasal passages that increase their propensity to sneeze.

If your dog is constantly sneezing, has nasal discharges, or looks to be in pain while sneezing, he or she should be examined by a veterinarian. We recommend consulting a Vet online on VetsOnCloud.

Meeting a dog for the first time? It's normal for your new dog to be wary of you โ€“ especially if heโ€™s never met a human before. Remember these tips to make your experience positive.

Many puppies have fluffy coats when they are small. But, this fur does not persist long. Puppy coats are often thinner and softer than adult coats, according to Dr. Clark. The density of their hair increases as they age, and the hair itself becomes coarser.

Consider the following scenario with a Golden Retriever: It's a little fuzz ball as a puppy, but as an adult, it has a coarse, water-repellent topcoat and a thick undercoat to keep it warm while swimming. The transition from puppy fuzz to adult fur is unique to each dog.

Some puppies will noticeably shed before the adult hairs come in, while others will simply โ€˜gainโ€™ the adult hairs in addition to their puppy ones.

Many dog coats will lighten or darken as they mature from puppy to adult fur. Some undergo more dramatic transformations. The amount they change is determined by their breed and heredity. Yellow Lab puppies, for example, will not mature into a chocolate Lab. But, Dalmatians, Bedlington Terriers, Kerry Blue Terriers, and Shih Tzus are among the breeds that may undergo colour changes as they age.

The cats are pickier about their companions than the dogs. Cats, in reality, have different types of personalities and many of them suffer from separation anxiety.

Many of us are returning back to work and hence it is a good idea to be aware of the indications of separation anxiety in cats ahead of time.

We strongly advise you to consult your veterinarian if you notice any changes in your cat's behaviour before linking it to separation anxiety.

Despite the fact that most Dalmatians have normal hearing in both ears, some Dals are completely deaf. It was discovered in the early 1980s that certain Dalmatians can hear in one ear but cannot hear in the other. These dogs are known as unilaterals, or unis, since they have unilateral (one-sided) hearing. BAER (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) testing can assess the hearing status of a Dalmatian.

The primary difference between a Dalmatian that hears bilaterally and one who hears unilaterally is that the unilaterally hearing dog lacks directional hearing. Dogs - and other animals, including humans - can detect noises because the sound enters one ear a fraction of a second before it reaches the other whereas unis have to use other senses to find the source of a sound. They quickly learn where sounds they hear frequently (doorbell, cookie jar, etc.) come from, and many are quite adept at using other indications to locate the source of a new noise.

Cats have an intrinsic balancing system termed the "righting reflex" that helps them to balance themselves and land on their feet. While cats can frequently land on their feet, this is not always the case. The height of the fall can have an impact on their ability to land safely.

During the fall, they can flip themselves around and land securely on their feet. The vestibular system inside a cat's ear is utilised for balance and orientation, allowing cats to swiftly determine which direction is up and spin their head so that the body may follow.

Cats also have highly unique skeletal features, including no collarbone and a very flexible backbone with 30 vertebrae. Because of their flexible spine, they can adjust themselves easily and rapidly during a fall. Their back arches, their feet go underneath the body, and they move their forepaws near the face to protect it. Their low body to weight ratio also helps cats in landing on their feet by slowing their speed while falling.
