VAHIGURU JI KA KHALSA VAHIGURU JI KI FATEH
I guess every Indian is fascinated by Golden temple and is on their wishlist to visit the temple once in their life times. On the eve of Guru Nanak Jayanthi let me walk you through a beautiful architectural experience of this holy space!

The Golden Temple is built on a 67 sq ft platform and is surrounded by a lake called the Amrit Sarovar (the pool of nectars). Its entrance is an ornate archway, with intricate inlay work. The temple's exterior is plated with gold.

The Darshani Deori (an arch) stands at the shore end of the causeway. The door panes are decorated with artistic style. They open on to the causeway or bridge that leads to the main building of Sri Harimandir Sahib. The bridge is connected with the 13 feet wide 'Pardakshna’ (circumambulatory path). It runs round the main shrine and leads to the 'Har ki Paure’ (steps of God).

The main structure of Sri Harimandir Sahib, functionally as well as technically is a three-storied one. The front, which faces the bridge, is decorated with repeated cusped arches. At the top of the first floor, 4 feet high parapet rises on all the sides which has also four 'Mamtees’ on the four corners and exactly on the top of the central hall of the main sanctuary is a small square room and has three gates.

On the top of the square room stands the low fluted 'Gumbaz’ (dome), having lotus petal motif in relief at the base, inverted lotus at the top which supports the 'Kalash’ having a beautiful 'Chhatri’ at the end. Sheesh Mahal or Mirror Room is constructed on the second storey, which is gilded with mirrors and has intricate work of various patterns. Above the Sheesh Mahal, there is a golden dome, along with several miniature domes. The mural work in the temple is characterized by floral patterns interspersed with animal motifs.

There are three Holy Trees (Bers) inside the temple. The golden plates that cover the exterior of Golden Temple's upper floor and domes as well as its exquisite marble work were done under the patronage of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. He developed the temple by including the gilding of the embossed plates, renewing the pietra dura and the embellishment of the ceilings with mirror and floral designs. The architecture of the Golden Temple is a unique blend of the Hindu and Muslim styles.

I personally love using these floor coverings in my interiors. These can be planned and bought as per the interior concepts. They add a third dimension to the flooring, holding a space together, can be used as dividers, bring in huge amount of warmth while adding richness to a space! They can even be used as Statement Walls!

Carpets are now a big thing in India! From Kashmiri carpets to Bhadoi - they come in all sizes, shapes, colours themes etc! Customise them if need be! Know that - If you dream it, it will be achieved! That is how versatile carpets & rugs are!

Have been working for themes woth a client on Pichwai.. Sri Nathdwara is worshipped a lot in Gujarati and Marwari Families. These paintings are Pichwai paintings. Enchanting contemporary n vibrant. Simply luv it. Just few lines for u all from our Wikipedia for u all to do experience it.. Pichhwai (also pichhavai, pichhvai, pechhavai, pichwai etc), literally meaning 'that which hangs from the back' from the Sanskrit words "Pichh" means back and "wais" means hanging, are large devotional Hindupainted pictures, normally on cloth, which portray Krishna. They are mainly made to hang in Hindu temples of the Pushtimarg devotional tradition, especially the Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, built around 1672. They are hung behind the idol of Shrinathji, a local form of Krishna and the centre of Pushtimarg worship, to depict his leelas.Aurangabad was another area associated with them.[2] The purpose of pichhwais, other than artistic appeal, is to narrate tales of Krishna to the illiterate. Temples have sets with different images, which are changed according to the calendar of festivals celebrating the deity.[3] Pichhwais have two main functions within the Pushtimarg Sampradaya. Ones used as backdrops on the inner sanctums in the shrines, they are changed daily and are designed in accordance to the season, festival and rituals of that day. Other pichhwais are artists documentation of the worship in the faith. Each festival and ritual within the faith is an elaborate affair with a pichhwai showcasing the adornment, emotions, mood, music, food and dancing that encompasses the worship.[5]With daily worship of Shrinathji having 8 different formal viewings, pichhwais may often depict the eight different adornments associated with each viewing. Festivals such as Govardhan Puja, Sharad Purnima, Raslila, Holi alongside other prominent festivals in Pushtimarg are depicted with vivid detail on the modes of worship and the items used.

Lawrence Wilfred "Laurie" Baker (2 March 1917 – 1 April 2007) was a British-born Indian architect, renowned for his initiatives in cost-effective energy-efficient architecture and designs that maximized space, ventilation and light and maintained an uncluttered yet striking aesthetic sensibility. Influenced by Mahatma Gandhi and his own experiences in the remote Himalayas, he promoted the revival of regional building practices and use of local materials; and combined this with a design philosophy that emphasized a responsible and prudent use of resources and energy. He was a pioneer of sustainable architecture as well as organic architecture.
