Have you taken the FIRST STEP to ACHIEVE your GOALS or DREAMS?

Taking the FIRST STEP is perhaps the most difficult thing to do in achieving a GOAL or DREAM. There are a lot of MENTAL OBSTACLES that make it difficult to take that first step.

The CHALLENGE of taking the first step has to do with FEAR. When you are faced with a new challenge, it means you have to leave the SAFETY of your routine behind. Your brain’s amygdala, which likes CALM, CLARITY, and PREDICTABILITY (because they’re good for SURVIVAL) sets off an alarm, and a BLOCKAGE appears.

Taking the first step itself is the result of thinking that something is POSSIBLE. The first step is the hardest, but when you do it, you BREAK an important RESISTANCE, and you start to see things that before seemed inaccessible, in a different way.

Without taking the first step, you will never ACHIEVE what is POSSIBLE.
To get to where you want to be, you need to let go of RESISTANCE TO CHANGE and START taking ACTIONS in that DIRECTION.

Are you practicing MINDFULNESS?

SELF-AWARENESS IS KNOWING YOURSELF. Increasing SELF-AWARENESS is therefore how we come to LEARN about and KNOW OURSELVES better.

It happens when we ENGAGE in a CONSCIOUS process of looking within and REFLECTING on something. This allows us to RECOGNIZE something about ourselves, about the way we THINK, FEEL, and do things in our lives. Increasing SELF-AWARENESS means LEARNING something new about yourself as opposed to RECOGNISING something you already know exists.

SELF AWARENESS IS A SIGN OF EMOTIONAL MATURITY AND INTELLIGENCE.

It allows us to see and UNDERSTAND WHO WE ARE and how others PERCEIVE us.

SELF AWARENESS allows us to have healthy RELATIONSHIPS, separate our THOUGHTS and EMOTIONS from who we are as individuals, gain PERSPECTIVE and cultivate EMPATHY.

Are you GRATEFUL for what you have in your life?

Researcher Robert Emmons has authored several papers on the psychology of GRATITUDE, showing that being more GRATEFUL can lead to INCREASED levels of WELLBEING.

Guilt is an emotion that involves feelings of remorse and self-judgment. While it can be a helpful emotion for personal growth, letting it linger too long can take a toll on your emotional health.

Guilt affects your self-esteem and self-worth, and can lead to maladaptive behaviors that end up harming you. Unaddressed guilt can lead to behaviors that affect work, relationships, and personal esteem. It leads to behaviors that directly harm your health.

For example, someone who cheats on their partner, then holds onto their guilt for years. To avoid feeling their guilt or to engage in self-punishment, they may start to drink heavily. They also avoid being at home because they don’t feel worthy of their family’s love, so they become an absent parent to their kids. Not only does drinking more alcohol take a toll on their health but all of these behaviors further perpetuate their guilt.
