The Art & Craft of Jamdani:
Jamdani is derived from the Persian word “jam” (meaning floral) and 'Dani' that is a vase or container named after decorative floral patterns found in Dhakai Muslin.

During the regime (1605-1627) of Mughal emperor Jahangir, the plain Jamdani muslin was decorated with numerous geometric & floral designs.

Jamdani is an enduring craft; its specialism lies in the ability to integrate new forms. While Jamdani began as cotton muslin, its weaves have incorporated threads of silk, silver, gold and more to create fascinating iterations. Today, Jamdani is done on various materials, without involving machinery.

The weavers in recent years have discovered that it is the only weaving technique with a sustainability factor. Modernising the weave combines inventing designs, motifs, colours and textures. The beauty springs from keeping the identity/ technique of the cluster and juxtaposing it with sensibilities that resonate with the present times.

Visual Artist fromJaipur, trained in textile design from NID Ahemadabad. Her work revolves around exploring the meaning and role of textiles in human cultures.
Having a body of work span across various mediums, her self-initiated illustrations are a highlight inspired by her daily experiences, Indian aesthetics & craft cultures.

Her work has been featured in Cocoa & Jasmine, Method bandra, The National Handicraft Fair and more.

is a paper artist, origamist & founder of studio. With the moto - Anyone and everyone can fold, she shares her knowledge with children, college students as well as working professionals.

Having realised the nuances of Origami while still in college, Aditi’s education in design encouraged her to follow her artistic calling of this craft. She earned a Masters degree in Textiles from the prestigious NID, Ahmedabad.

Aditi’s work mainly focuses on scale and compositions, in different mediums like leather, polypropylene, textile and paper. From miniature folding to large scale sculptures, her objective is to bring character as well as a visual focal point to the space. It’s the magic of transforming a two-dimensional piece of paper to a three-dimensional structure, and its interaction with scale as well as light, that excites her.

The exterior verandah and garden allowed for more distinct graphics; the Louise Bourgeois inspired verandah design was crafted by marble inlay Karigars from Agra. The large garden is covered in a gradiant mosiac of Kota stone, interspersed with embedded lighting, marking lines of movement and allowing for intimate standing space or events.

Yaan champions stylish hand spun & hand dyed rugs in contemporary colors and patterns.

Perfect to spruce up spaces for an artisanal touch.

Fun fact: Each rug is made out of a 20 count thread yarn and takes a few days to finish.

Collaborating between the skills of Jaipur Modern’s in-house craftsmen, the wall is entirely constructed from 400 wooden bricks, each one requiring three hours to intricately hand embroider.
