Celebrating World Thalassemia Day 2021

History: In 1925 a Detroit physician studied Italian children with severe anemia, poor growth, huge abdominal organs, and early childhood death. In 1946, the cause of thalassemia was found to be an abnormal hemoglobin structure.
In 1994 for the first time, theThalassemia International Federation established May 8 as International Thalassemia Day.
