“Ekta Mahila Nature Farming Producer Company Limited” a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) promoted by , has been awarded the first prize under the “Moha Stand on Your Feet” initiative of Ayurvedic pharmaceutical company Charak Pharma in Mumbai for women entrepreneurship and empowerment.

On January 10, 2024, a mass celebration was organized by the FPO Members in the village Chhabbanivada of Shivrajpur block in Kanpur Nagar, receiving the prize money of Rs. 15 lakh by Mr. Prashant Kumar Srivastav, the Zonal Training Manager, Charak Pharma, who presented the cheque to the Directors of Ekta Mahila Nature Farming Producer Company Limited.

“Ekta Mahila Nature Farming Producer Company Limited” is engaged in promotion of natural farming with the support of Shramik Bharti in the Shivrajpur block of Kanpur Nagar. Presently more than 600 women from 50 women self-help groups belonging to small and marginal farmer families are the shareholders of this company. About 425 women farmers and their families have adopted natural farming and growing chemical-free, safe food on 500 acres of land and making it available in the market. Besides, their 500 acres of land is contributing to ecological sustainability by acting as a carbon reservoir.

In the Banda District of Uttar Pradesh, our dedicated efforts have equipped women farmers with the skills and knowledge needed for natural farming. Recognizing the interconnectedness of air, water, and soil in agriculture, we're championing a holistic approach to ensure sustainability.

The training highlighted the pivotal role of women farmers in implementing climate-resilient farming practices. Moreover, the introduction of the Low Tunnel Poly House method stands as a game-changer, offering the potential for year-round farming. Imagine a world where farmers can thrive in any season, and women play a central role in this agricultural revolution!

Under the LIC HFL Hriday Project, the Shramik Bharti team distributed hens to 35 beneficiaries in Moga district's Dharamkot block, bringing hope and livelihood opportunities to local families.

Thoughtfully selected by the Village Development Committee and Shramik Bharti's dedicated field coordinators, these hens are more than birds; they are agents of change. With 13 female hens and one male, these desi (FFG) breeds have high egg production potential. In just 1.5 months, these hens will start laying eggs, providing families with a steady income source.
This initiative aligns perfectly with the LIC HFL Hriday Project's mission of uplifting rural communities and enhancing well-being. We're not just bringing sustenance but nurturing a sustainable future for these families.

Women directors of Farmer Producer organizations (FPOs) and Executive Members of SHG Federations promoted by Shramik Bharti in Uttar Pradesh shared their journey and story of self-reliance and leadership development in an international event “International Program on Women Leadership Development” organized by Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD), an apex level training institute of NABARD, between 9 to 13 October 2023 at BIRD Institute, Lucknow, under “Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme” (ITEC), a bilateral program run by the Government of India among 160+ developing countries.

This International event witnessed the presence of women representatives of government departments, businesses, industries, and non-governmental organizations from 20 partner countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and from countries in the Pacific and Caribbean regions.

Ms. Deeksha Pandey and Ms. Siyadulari enlightened the forum with their thoughts on women's leadership development and narrated their story of how women (daughters-in-law) from villages are today leading the natural farming program at Shramik Bharati and are building their identity as agriculture entrepreneurs through farmer producer organizations.

Speaking about the role of women's self-help groups in empowering women, Ms. Geeta and Ms. Sharda told how the women of the village have become self-reliant by joining self-help groups and have contributed towards their children's education, health, marriage, construction of houses, family business, etc. with their small savings.

Rakesh Pandey, Chief Executive Officer of Shramik Bharti, shared his experiences and views about the strong participation of women in other programs of the organization like solar energy and smokeless cook stoves, water, sanitation, hygiene(WASH), education, community health etc.

Empowering Women Farmers in Banda, Uttar Pradesh!

At Shramik Bharti, we're thrilled to share the progress of our ongoing project in collaboration with the Canada in India (High Commission of Canada) Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI)! Together, we are paving the way for sustainable and climate-resilient farming practices in the heart of India.

Our mission: Enabling 300 incredible women farmers from the small and marginal farming community in the Banda district to flourish through training and handholding support.

Today, we're excited to showcase a significant step forward as we equip these determined women with the tools of change. They now have access to small agricultural implements, drums for preparing bio-fertilizers, natural decoctions for pest control, and a host of other nutrients and enzymes!

These women are the backbone of their communities, and with your support, they are embracing climate-smart farming techniques that not only improve their livelihoods but also contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.

On 23rd August, District Magistrate, Chandauli Shri Nikhil Tikaram reached village Ekaona in Shahabganj Block to meet the shareholder farmers of Nandgopal Farmer Producer Company promoted by Shramik Bharti with the support of the National Bank For Agriculture & Rural Development. While reviewing the work of FPO being done for the livelihood improvement of small and marginal farming communities, he further inquired about the Natural Farming initiative of FPO. He witnessed the use of natural farming practices in Multilayer Kitchen Gardens developed by FPO members. The DDM, National Bank For Agriculture & Rural Development, Chandauli, and BDO, Shahabganj Block, accompanied him.

Shramik Bharti is promoting 25 FPOs in Uttar Pradesh under the Central Sector Scheme of “Formation and Promotion of 10,000 New Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)”. We are trying to mainstream Natural farming in our FPO promotion program through training, capacity building of farmers, and providing them with resources and handholding support for sustainable food system transformation.

A Special Visit to Celebrate Empowerment and Innovation!

We were honored to host Meenal Patole Director (Programmes Implementation) of WaterAid India on a remarkable visit to one of our WASH Enterprises, Saksham Hygiene Products (Sanitation Enterprise), located in Unnao District, Uttar Pradesh. This visit illuminated the incredible progress we've achieved together with WaterAid India Water.org and Shramik Bharti in fostering empowerment and driving positive change through innovation. The Saksham Hygiene Products initiative stands as a shining example of women's entrepreneurship, community engagement, and the pursuit of a cleaner, healthier society.
