MEDIA COVERAGE *Extension Talk on 'Youth Media and Society' at Hindu Kanya College*

The Career Counseling and Placement Cell of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala arranged an Extension Talk on 'Youth, Media and Society' for its students on 6th March 2024. Dr. Ranbir Singh, Dean, Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, Media and Mass Communication, Professor and Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication from I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, the Resource Person enlightened students about various avenues available for the youth in the fields related to Media. Ms. Mangala Sahni, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar introduced the Resource Person and the topic of the talk to the students and motivated students to remain updated, alert and active while dealing with social media platforms. Dr. Neetu Bhargava, Convener, Er. Inderjit Kaur Bal, Mrs. Avninder Kaur, Members of the Career Counseling Cell were present along with the staff and students of the college. College Principal Dr. Archna Garg applauded the efforts of the cell for arranging this talk for the career orientation and awareness of the students. Mrs. Varinder Kaur from the Department of Political Science hosted the event efficiently.

In a noteworthy development, Laveena Sharma, a student from the MAJMC department (2021-2023) at IKG Punjab Technical University, was honored with an invitation from the Press Council of India. The occasion marked the celebration of National Press Day on November 16th at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including the Hon'ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankar, and the Hon'ble Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Anurag Thakur. Dr. L. Murugan, the Hon'ble Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, along with G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, IAS, delivered keynote addresses. The event was presided over by the Hon'ble Chairperson of the Press Council of India, Smt. Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai.

They also got an exclusive peek behind the scenes at a local FM radio station, learning about the art of radio jockeying and even winning some cool prizes. 📻🎙️

IKG-PTU celebrates World Photography Day, Naqesh Sharma, Renowned Photographer faciliatated

PTU-JMC organized a Photography workshop for students in the liu of World Photography day

Jalandhar/Kapurthala,August 18,2023: we're in the era of smartphones and digital media where each of us is fondly a photographer. Whilst we gauge the beauty of life by capturing some memories through a few clicks, we all have an instinct of influence running behind our minds for photography as a skill.

Mobile photography is undoubtedly popular among all of us, especially the youth, for the Instagram validation they seek of it. Keeping this in mind and to teach aspiring media students core nuances of photography, with the intent of enhancing their skills, Department of Journalism and mass Communication celebrated World Photography Day. The department organised a one-day workshop for the students on the concepts and techniques of camera handling along with how to capture professional grade photographs from the mobile phones.

Naqesh Sharma, who is a bright young photographer, entrepreneur and founder of the Naqsh Photography operating out of jalandhar, joined the event as the resource person to facilitate the students. He shared the experiences of his working days at the Cannon as well

University Dean Prof(Dr.) Vikas chawla was the Chief guest of the ceremony. Prof(Dr) Ranbir Singh, Head of the department of JMC & other teaching fraternities, cordially welcomed the chief guest and the resource person valuing their esteemed presence.
