*MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH, 194 BOTTLES OF SIOREX COUGH SYRUP LIKE CONTRABAND ALONGWITH 15 LTRS. OF ILLICIT LIQUOR SEIZED BY KATHUA POLICE; 03 HELD*

Kathua, 16 AUG:
*In its decisive action against drug menace and illicit liquor in the District, Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Sh.R C Kotwal,JKPS today recovered 194 bottles of Siorex Cough Syrup like contraband alongwith seized 15 litres of Illicit liquor within the district and three persons were arrested.*

*Today on 16-08-2021 a police team of PP Hatli led by Insp. Yash Paul Sharma IC PP Hatli under the supervision of DySP Headquarter Kathua Sh. Shammi Kumar JKPS conducted a raid at Maggar Khad area and apprehended two persons namely Ram Dass S/o Nand Lal Age 28Yrs. R/o Ward No. 13 Hatli Morh Kathua and Arif Hussain S/o Ilyas Age 22 yrs. R/o Dhanore.During checking, 194 No's of Siorex Corex Syrup (Codeine Phosphate) bottles, which were recovered from their illegal possession.The said persons were later on arrested by the police party on spot alongwith contraband like item was seized.In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 380/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act got registered at P/S Kathua and further investigation was taken up.*

*While in another instance, on 15.08.2021 it was reliablely learnt that one person namely Ajay Kumar S/o Kala Ram R/o Rampur is doing the trade of illicit liquor at Link Road Chhabe Chak. Acting on the same, a team of P/S Rajbagh led by Insp. Bopinder Singh SHO P/S Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border Sh. Sachit Mahajan JKPS conducted a raid at Rampur village and apprehended the aforesaid person.During Checking approx. 15 litres of illicit Liquor has been recovered which was purportedly kept to be sold in the adjoining area among general public to gain illegitimate profit.Thereafter, all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor was seized and accused was arrested.In this regard, a case vide FIR No 154/2021 U/S 48(a) (f) Excise Act has been registered at P/S Rajbagh and further investigation of the case is going on.*

Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav: DC Kathua finalises arrangements for special events

‘5 day Photo Exhibition to be key attraction’

KATHUA, MARCH 27: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Yadav today chaired a meeting to finalise the necessary arrangements for special events being organised under “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” programme from March 30 to April 03, 2021 at district headquarters.

Pertinently, the ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ is being celebrated to mark the celebrations of 75 years of Independence of India for which nationwide launch of activities were inaugurated by the Prime Minister on March 12, 2021.

The main attraction of the programme will be the ‘’Photo Exhibition’ being organised by Regional Outreach Bureau, J&K Region showcasing the contribution of freedom fighters in Indian freedom struggle at the auditorium complex of Government Degree College for Women, Kathua.

It was given out that the activities such as Cycle Rallies, Marathon, Cultural events, Poster Making competition, besides sports competition and programmes on patriotic themes will be organised during the five day programme.

The DC said the activities for five day special events were aimed at to make it a people’s campaign and appealed that people to visit the venue of ‘Photo Exhibition’ along with their children to instill a sense of patriotism among them. He said the event is an opportunity to know about the contribution of our freedom ideals and heroes closely.

He called upon the concerned officers to work in coordination and cohesion for smooth conduct of the five day event. He emphasized to make all the requisite arrangements well in advance and formulate a viable plan for organizing the commemorative activities for the event.

A team of PS Bani under the supervision of SHO PS Bani Insp. Rahul Mahajan in its jurisdictional area found few tractors indulged in illegal mining which were being used for illegal transportation of construction material.Meanwhile, all the 09 trolleys were seized and were immediately handed over to the officials of the mining department kathua for further legal proceedings.

Block Diwas: DC Kathua chairs public outreach programme at Nagri Parole

KATHUA, MARCH 24: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Yadav today presided over maiden weekly Block Diwas proceedings at Block Nagri Parole, the first after assuming the charge of district Kathua.

BDC Chairman Nagri Khazan Chand; BDC Chairman Barnoti, Brijeshwar Singh; DDC Member Nagri Sandeep Majotra; SSP Kathua R.C Kotwal; MC Chairman, Anil Singh Andotra; ACD Narayan Dutt and other district and sectoral officers were present.

People hailing from different areas of block Nagri Parole and adjoining Blocks apprised the DDC about their issues, grievances and demands which were mainly related to the provision of basic amenities viz roads, drinking water, power supply and ration besides highlighting other issues such as shortage of school and medical staff, pending pension cases and release of pending MGNREGA payments etc.

The DDC assured deputations, representatives and individuals that their issues and demands are duly registered by the concerned departments, while many issues were addressed on the spot.

Responding to the demands of shortage of staff in the health department, the DDC assured that the matter will be taken up with concerned authorities.

Div Com pays surprise visit late night at Lakhanpur, assesses Covid testing status during night hours

JAMMU, MARCH 21: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Raghav Langer payed surprise visit late tonight at entry point of the Union Territory, Lakhanpur (gateway of J&K) to assess the Covid-19 testing status there during night hours.
He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Yadav and other concerned officers.
The Divisional Commissioner took stock of arrangements being put in place for testing of travellers coming from outside UT and other Covid control measures.
The concerned officers apprised the Divisional Commissioner that various counters have been set up for testing of travellers coming from outside UT. It was informed that separate counters are in place for Trucks, Buses, Light Motor Vehicles, Heavy Motor Vehicles.
Round the clock testing facilities are there and testing is being done through both the modes i.e. RTPCR, RAT. After sampling the asymptomatic patients are sent for home isolation while symptomatic patients are sent to GMC Kathua.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned officers to keep extra vigil on travellers coming from outside UT and do not let anyone go without sampling.
Referring to the recent rise in Covid cases in some states, the Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned to take all precautionary measures and ensure RTPCR testing of travellers coming from states especially Maharashtra, Gujrat, Punjab and other states which witnessed surge in Covid-19 cases in recent times.
Instructions were issued to all the concerned that there should be no laxity in Covid-19 testing at the entry point of UT. He also passed directions for increasing testing capacity.
